    Stolen FXR150 (Auckland, 8 January)

    Green 2001 FXR150

Stolen from Murdoch Rd in Grey Lynn/Ponsonby some time between 1am and 8am on Tuesday the 8th Jan.

Was parked on the street within 10m of the bedroom window which was wide open and I didn't hear anything.

Bike has very distinctive patch on the top right front of the fuel take about 25x25mm where the previous owner has welded it on as a repair. Patch is only painted in green primer. Also all stickers have been taken off fairings. Bit of surface rust on frame. Mirrors have been repainted. I used a orange/brown undercoat which can be seen on some parts of the mirrors.

I know this is a pritty crappy bike but it was my first so I'm a bit bummed. Please keep an eye out for it for me! I'm watching trademe to make sure no parts from it show up.

I may post some pics up if I can find some.

This also means I'm looking for a new bike. Want to spend some where between $3.5-4k, 250cc sports style. Have been looking at CBRs and ZXRs but not sure yet.

    gutted.....

you will be lucky to see that again in one bit i would assume it has been joy ridden to its death......

but i do hope you get it back
I've learnt to hide the pain inside, open the throttle and ride away.

Yeah I'm not expecting to get it back. I surprised anyone would choose an FXR to take as a joy ride but I guess ud just take what's easiest.

Ah well good thing I had insurance!

Very easy bike to steal so there's three possibilities:

A 'proper' thief has taken it. This guy steals bikes and knows what they're worth. He'll strip it down sell parts to his mates, or through biker channels. Unlikely to use tardme.

An 'opportunity' thief has taken it. This guy might be able to ride, he might not. He'll steal it, and most likely either give to someone he knows to strip - or sell it to a complete stranger for cash using a fake name. He'll even claim that it was stolen from him and that's where the screwdriver marks came from, he 'doesn't want it anymore, hope you can enjoy it' and thats why he only wants $1000.

Joyrider has taken it. This guy knows how to ride and that all you need is a screwdriver to do so. He'll take the bike, rip the shit out of it. (maybe even take it home and swap plates) Then get rid of it. Dumped or stripped or burned out on the side of the road.

You'll find that cheap bikes like a rough looking FXR probably wouldn't entice a proper thief unless it was very easy and he felt very confident. Most likely it's already on the side of the road somewhere, or in parts.

FXR engines are VERY sought after. You can get 500-700 for a low-k's engine without inspection on trademe during the summer.

That's cool I got a ZXR250 now anyway. The FXR150 is now owned by the insurance company so it's their problem. Still if I see someone riding it I'll probably run them over hahahaha.
