A little boot for the Lc4

after a near miss with a cyclist today in my lane doing 70kmh down hill he locked it up and kissed the pavement.. was in middle of no where and he was bleeding from quite a few wounds, at this point I wished i had somewhere to carry a first aid kit..

so I went and grabbed a pelican case and mounted myself a wee boot.

    first aid kit
    tools
    tyre levers and tubes
primus and a tube of instant coffee

working on mounts now for the ortlieb panniers I got today

I have plan; get a spare pillion seat for my NC30, take the seat off so I have the frame underneath and make some mounts for my minimoto to sit on the back. I'll be able to take it to the track without needing to get a car licence so I can drive a car and I'll have a fall back option for when the VFR inevitably blows up

    How much was the pelican?
I used a $20 plastic toolbox that's held on with zip-ties but a pelican would be a bit stronger.

My other boxes are a Ventura bag (large) and a 45L Givi box (far too large )

Now there's a good idea guys, I have just been contemplating something more solid than a pack as well....thanks for the pictures!

I vaquely recall some discussion / thread about cheaper alternatives to the Pelican cases on here, copies of the Pelicans ex china (probably)???? Available from Super Cheap or Repco I think?

Nice work, that's a very tidy looking 640, you don't see many black ones.

Bunnings had them, but only in briefcase size or smaller, & only in yellow, which would have totally messed up the stealth look of the 640. They may have a wider range now though.

When I was looking into hard panniers a few months back I found you could land Pelicans here from the US off the web for about 1/2 the local price.

    Cheers

I'm using a Givi E370N top box. IF I remember correctly it cost $199.
Holds 39 litres they reckon. I like it except on steep downhills, it sometimes gets in the way of my arse then when I'm trying to get my arse as far back as I can.

And yes, Nordies thread contains all the goss on his Bashplate made from a redundant or broken old style sign after it was upgraded to the newer size... something like that.

It'd been retired after an "accident" and I acquired it directly from the Tasman District Council through the proper channels

Yes, well, being that I don't have the Mangatapu at my back door to ride every day, it's not such a problem for me.

Hahaha... does my arse look big in this bike!
Sometimes you wish it was easier, but if it was, everyone else would do it, then you remember you don't want to be like everybody else!
