Yeah. Probation period doesn't really mean much. It's really just a period that allows for more intense scrutiny of the employee and to allow for regular meetings regarding performance and improvements required. You can't just get the biff at the end of it just because they're a bit pissed off. They still need to have gone through a process just the same as they would for any other long term employee.
They do need to have told you what the meeting on Tuesday is about, that you are entitled to have a support person with you and what the possible consequences of the meeting could be. If they haven't done those then they're probably already in PG territory.
Hopefully it'll just be a smack on the hand though. Been there, done that, had a weekend to worry. Not fun.

It will blow over very quickly. (the issue, not the building).
Your boss is just suggesting to ask permission next time. Albeit, in a very clumsy, slightly rude way.
(secretly, he's probably impressed by the interest you have shown). No harm done.![]()
The courts look at them with a very suspicious eye.
There are cases where a probationary period is appropriate. Disabled employees is one example.
But the courts have repeatedly signalled that they will not permit a probationary period to be used as a means to evade the intent of the ECA.
A probationary period means "we're not sure if you'll be able to do this job but we'll give you a fair try". Not " We can sack you whenever we want for any reason".
Note that all the procedural requirements for fair dealing still apply during a probationary period. In particular, if the employer considers that "it's not working" they must discuss this with the employyee and make reaosnable efforts to make it work, including support, training etc.
"Probationary" and "trial" periods have notoriously been abused by unscrupulous employers. hence the suspicion with which they are viewed.
