I'm working on piss poor memory here but I think the list of mods available are huge for your bike.
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?

    sort of.

and besides dipshits and bucket boys answers...its also to protect the engine from igniting the fuel/air preignition in hot conditions...during low speed running...as modern motors run such high compression... so cruising through town a on really hot day...low air flow through the motor...is the type of senario that could cause pre ignition detonation.

hmmm... interesting. So not advancing the ignition as much in the lower gears is a bit of a poor man's knock sensor? And this would explain why some people report their engines sometimes running a bit rough with a TRE fitted?

As I usually run my bike on 98 octane, will this given me more of a safeguard against pre ignition in such situations?

Not much chance of pre-ignition in most modern engines (the mixture being ignited by a hot spot in the cylinder, not the sparkplug), but as poos very rightly points out...detonation, basically the mixture exploding in the cylinder, not an even flame front. That's what the "pinking" noise is, lots of explosions happening in your motor... and a very big enemy to it

Mate you live in Dunners...it never gets hot enough so you will have to worryI fitted a TRE moons ago with no problems ever, made the mistake once of riding the bike from one end of Dunedins main street to the end, must have got every red light even the bloody fan came on.
