Full License requirements?

Just Finished the Defensive Driving course so I can hurry up and get my full next month, and was told that because I'm over 25 and already hold a Full Car License, I don't need to sit the Full Motorbike test, just pay an admin fee after 3 months and done....

Far as I know that's wrong, I still need to sit the test, (can't find anything saying I don't on LTSA website), but anyone know if that is infact the case? If so then

Nope you definately get to sit a riding test and apply your knowledge of hazards and show the tester that you know how hazardous he is.

Noting that the course is pitched at a very low level and designed for cagers it's no surprise to me that the instructor knows nothing about motorcycles. What does it take to become a DD instructor? Lifetime supply of weetbix?

This was the old way of doing it IIRC - before the change from the paper license of old to the new plastic fantastic.

That and a diploma stating that you're a complete fuckwit, imho. When I sat my full at waaaay over 25 (more like 45, crackup) I actually lost my tester in the car behind and never went over the speed limit once! Yes, I got the pass but after the whole testing thing was said and done (and I'd been taking notes) I was under supervision for no more than a total of 45mins.

The rest was down to me, but by then I'd had 28 years in the saddle.

The system sucks, get used to it.

I have just got my restricted and was looking at doing the dd course as well in order to reduce my restricted period from 6 mths to 3 mths. Is the dd course worthwhile or is it several hours of boring rhetoric that us mid lifers could better do without? Im told its around $150 for 4 x 2 hr lessons

It's complete BS to be perfectly honest.

6pm - 8pm x4 nights, +homework
Concluded with a practical session in a cage
I did this course 10 years ago for my car License and had to do it again for the bike....

Some things are relevant (hazard identifications), but I think I just got lucky as the instructor seemed to be pretty clued up about bikes.

Was $170 and the only reason I did it was because I've found my new bike and want to get my full before it sells (that'll learn me for spending so long on my learners!)

the guy who took my course told us that if you ate a block of chocolate then had one can of beer you would be way more drunk than jsut drinking the beer.
