I wish this thread would be deleted.

It is a sad reflection on KB when google.co.nz returns this thread as the top listing when searching for "ninja 250 08"

If that isn't a good enough reason to do some MODERATING then God only knows what is!!!!!

Hope that helps in some new riders decision making.

    skidMark.
Interesting you think the only reason to buy a bike is to go hell for leather "getting your knee down" (BTW. We are going to coin a phrase "skidmarking" when riders try to put their knee down on the road, It is meant as a derogatory phrase).
I have high expectations for the new ninja 250r. I surely hope it lives up to them. I have very found memories of my gpz250 (holy shit batman, thats not a sportsbike and yet I enjoyed riding it) and did over 30000km on it in about 9 months before it met its demise with some fairly unfortunate events.

Wouldnt hold your breath on 45HP. But then again, who gives a shit.

Yes. I would agree that you have ridden the zxr to its limit. That is the limit where the motor siezes. Way to look after a bike Mr mechanic!!!!

But I spent so much time replying to skidmark. I hate to think it was all in vien. Hey, at least it has kept me entertained for the last 5 mins. ( and 3 and a half of those was waiting for my wife to tell me how to spell derogatory.

meh fuckit was just trying to help...not dig into the bike.

and just as info i have owned a gpx...ridden many zzr's...

    and owned 3 zxr's.

and been a bike mechanic for 3 years.

    but sweet

    what would i know eh?
I aint a newbie and i didnt go oooh aaah either, it was an informed decision that I made based on looks and resale value
It makes sense to buy something others are going to want to pay reasonable money for when we are ready to move on
But then common sense seems to fail you
You are not a mechanic until you have done an apprentiship, only then are you a tradesman so dont pretend to be something you clearly arent
And all the mechanics i know would not pass judgement until they had seen and ridden the bike for themselves
Your not experienced or old enough to be a bike critic either
If you had ridden the bike there may have been some merit to your rumblings but alas they are merely rumblings

    Oh dear..............

It's been mentioned before, not everyone is up for a screaming IL4 to pootle about town and from what I understand the GPX isn't bad at that. So if the new 250 Ninja is good at pootling around town and also looking good (some would argue better than a GPX) why not have it as a viable alternative.

Anyway, I have heard that GPX's are OK bikes to cut your teeth on if your only ever going to be a road rider. Not everyone is destined to be Rossi.........

    A wise one at that.

    More sense than Skiddys comments

Fail with a capital F, Now I think of it, reading Skidmarks posts a few other F words come to mind.

You are not a mechanic until you have done an apprentiship,
    You are getting technicamal
only then are you a tradesman so dont pretend to be something you clearly arent
    You noticed that too huh?
And all the mechanics i know would not pass judgement until they had seen and ridden the bike for themselves
Dont have to be a mechanic to work that one out.
Your not experienced or old enough to be a bike critic either
Actually, I dont think he is old enough to dress himself yet, let alone the rest.
If you had ridden the bike there may have been some merit to your rumblings but alas they are merely rumblings
He would have got his knee down on it. That is if it didnt seize first.

You know of a builder than could do a wide enough brick wall? I feel we may need one.

IMHO. How can you base anything about the 08 Ninja 250 without having ridden it. Oh wait thats right you can't...

It may surprise you, it could have been tweaked as others have suggested. Looks are sometimes deceiving.

I didn't like the look of the Hyosungs when I was first looking at buying a bike. Had listened to all the comments - both good and bad regarding these bikes. TEST RODE a couple of different makes and models before TEST RIDING the Hyo, and decided the Hyo would suit me for the purposes I was wanting to buy it for... So to base your first posting on what old versions are and assuming the new one is exactly like them is kinda stupid. (fitting by all accounts)

Kinda like the old war of words between Holden and Ford Supporters, each loves their own particular brand. But FFS stop knocking something until you have actually TRIED IT.

    Rant over
If your looking at Bike Comms, have a read of this review..

    it did not seize.

it roasted a bike end bearing due to a combination of oil slosh and i stuffed up a downshift and it bounced off the rev limiter.

it had a $400 2nd hand motor in it, it was fucked already.

when it did in the big end bearing it also buggered the crank

    AND HERE WE GO

    Oh dear.
You made some claims, based on what you think you know. Those claims were, and are, your opinion only. There is a small element of truth in what you said, but you made unfair comparisons...bit like saying a Trabant and a Mini are in the same class cos they are both small and cheap to run. However, you are knocking one of the most popular and long-lived models, ever, and you should have realised that was going to upset people. And then you defend your spoutings, instead of thinking that perhaps you were out of line.

And to those that think SM can be 'taught a lesson...' - think again. He's been here doing this shit since 3.6.2005 and he aint learned a thing in all that time.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
