Decent off-road places to ride in the Coromandel?

I'm heading off to pick up a new bike this saturday (honda crf250r), and then going to the coromandel for a few days away, are there any good trail rides or MX tracks around the whitianga/matarangi area?

use to be a small road on the left just before the airport on the way in to whitianga you could park in and there was a track that ran of the end of the road you could also use it to get into the forest and go all the way to matarangi (mostly just gravel road but) havnt done it in years though
