I rode home from work (lower hutt to upper hutt) at around seven o'clock this evening. It seemed to have died done quite a bit by then.
The wind was nothing compared to what happened to me this morning to me in the Tiata gorge. As I'm riding through I see this movement out of the corner of my eye and then next thing I know, this fucken great rock/boulder comes bowling down the hill and then across the road only a couple of meters ahead of me.![]()
While you sit there liking things just cos' everyone else does, I'll be standing up here keeping it real.
Didn't reckon it was that bad today really. Half asleep drivers - first week back at work - were a lot worse.
Meh, the whole thing was a storm in a b cup!
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
we will remember them
It was pretty windy yesterday, my daughter & I came out of Countdown in Johnsonville at about 2pm and got to see a trolley full of bread baskets get blown across the car park at a pretty good rate of knots and smash into a parked Commodore with the owner inside, she was none to pleased.
Have to say I'm glad it hit a car and not a person as it had built up quite a speed!!!

Only motorcyclists understand why a dog hangs his head out of a car window
Yeah well I'm going to show I must be a soft cock and say I struggled to keep the 750 upright on Kent Terrace after leaving Wellington Motorcycles yesterday (new M3's, I like).
At the first set of lights (which decided to turn red when they saw me approaching, love you Murphy), it took every ounce of determination I had to keep the 750 from falling to the left. Just a bad part though, as I didn't have any problems after that.
I actually like riding in the wind. It spices things up a bit![]()
If you kept it upright, then you're not a softcock.![]()
I did the welly - Upper Hutt thing about 5.30 last night and my little baby (FXR150) only got blown into the other lane once. Not bad, most days in wind like that it happens a couple of times.
Today was a pain though - nice steady resistance wind that knocked a good 10km off my average speed.
