    In my line of business test drives are part of the deal. Sussing out the customer Is darned important . I keep the car keys of their drive car--If they donn't have any then I'd be dead set susspicious

    I'd be keeping thier keys, or thier license number and at least another form of ID to make sure they hadnt faked a card. If they dont turn up on, or in a decent vehicle, then I'd be suspicious as a suspicious thing.
    That said, I'm all for beating the %&* out of thieving mongrels like this. They are obviously too thick to learn to respect others property when told to do so, therefore, we must use "alternative educational methods" -- ie those things hanging off your wrists, and a good solid pair of steelies
