    Best bike for >$4k

    Hey,
I just sold my car (an audi quttro 1986) plus a little savings leaves me with 4k and I am considering buying a bike. I want something for going up to my batch and long distance commuting. It has to be a bike that likes the open roads and has a good power band for going up north along up through helensville to Mangwhai on highway No. 16 I want something old school but I dont know where to start. :spudwhat:
Oh great and powerfull kiwi bikers please help.

Suzuki gsxr 1100 1988 $6,000. They all seem to be of this price range through, where were you looking?

If comfort is not an issue get either a ZXR750 from 89-90, awesome bikes, once your spine moulds to the required shape or an early GSXR750, not too bad, need dwarf legs and monkey arms though (lucky me, having my legs shortened for xmas) Even an FZR750 is pretty good... Notice the theme here... I recommend a 750 at least... single shock rear, decent brakes, mderate weight. Don't buy an elephant or a teapot... Sorry meant old beemer or GSXF... heh heh, that should get the old crusties whining...

If comfort is an issue you'd best ask someone else.

    Cheers,

Sedge. (short legs, big feet, spinal deformity, hairy knuckles, monkey brain (standard rider really))

Comfort isnt the issue, Speed and handling at higher speeds is though.
