    Haha i love off road it's pretty cool, i love on road too, both have their ups and downs. Nothing like getting a good line on road and cranking the bike over but also nothing like opening the throttle and holding on for dear life off road . As much as i would love to get an off road bike i think it's a bit of wishful thinking. A) can't afford it and B) would need a trailer a car capable of pulling it and also new gear etc. Plus maintenance of a off road and a two stroke would drive me mad haha. I definitely wanna get more off road practice under me, riding over those bumps was constant scary work. Me thinks a motard when i get my full would be good lol...or if i win the lottery a motard before i get my full *jokes*

    I reckon i was going a bit too slow to keep the bike stable enough to get over big bumps hence lots of falling off lol

    gutted bout the car man, but atleast she didn't write off the rg, and now you've gotten rid of that mobil fuel (told you it was bad for your engine lol)

    yeah i think that had a bit to do with it... but then again chris had the whole speed thing sussed, just had a bit of trouble keeping one or both wheels on the ground

    a bit more practice though and you'll be sweet - bailing like a pro with the rest of us

    riding dirtbikes for a few years before getting on the road has definitely helped me keep my roadbike upright, so i hope it'll do the same for Drider

    and it doesn't bugger fairings nor write off the bike either;

    just climb out of the gorse bushes, drag the bike out of the ditch, kick her in the guts and go

    That's easy, get a second-hand XR250 or DRZ250 or summat. Not as much psycho power as that YZF (rode YZ250F about a year ago, feckin' hell does that motor need to go into a road bike frame), crappier suspension and heavier, but you get all the fun of riding offroad (just slower) and you can ride it on the road to Woodhill or wherever. Plus, dirt bikes are laughably fun on road. A friend with a trailie he rides to work everyday says his commute is now an obstacle course. Jump curbs, wheelie over speed bumps -- and if you crash it on-road, they're about as crash-proof as bikes get.

    And at its core is a bullet-proof little 250 thumper -- no more feckin' about with spark plugs and paying ludicrous amounts for oil and fuel. Just change the oil every so often and leave it alone.

    what u mean in not meant to get a good line crank the bike over open the throttle and hang on for dear life, (in no particular order) on the road?. You tell me this only now why exactly?
    rephrase that lol

    I smiled all the way through reading your post (until the cage arrived!) Thanks so much for sharing what was obviously a fantastic day out with us! It reminds us of what we all love about riding bikes, the joy of it all. Well done!

    Hey my worst drop was actually coming to rest put my foot down, as you do and it went straight down a grass covered bore hole.So I got one leg in the bowels of the earth and the other at right angles across the top of the bike, unable to move with the hot exhaust scorchin its way into my leg.Only a 125 but totally impossible to move. I had to be helped out the hole, man how embarrassing.

    yeah the xr250 is a good bike and bloody reliable too, much lighter than the old ttr250. just i found once you really start thrashing them alot they begin to get problems...

    so then i got the yzf400

    now THAT is psycho power

    Binning on a track doesn't count...so dont worry, plus you were in a cage on the mway. Sounds like you had a blast bro!
    Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.
    It takes a big man to cry...and an even bigger man to laugh at that man.
