Sitting my Full license tomorrow morning @ 7am

    Hey all,

As the test looms closer, I am getting more and more nervous

I am sitting it at Northcross, off East Coast bays road, starts at a football ground or something.

Anywho, The only real thing I am a bit nervous about is the Hazard ID part. I have sat the Defensive driving course and like to think I am very aware of whats going on around me when on a bike. I am just wondering how hard they make it and whether they usually have a million to identify or am I getting wound up over nothing

I guess it also puts more pressure on me, because If I pass then I get to pickup my new GSXR600 at lunchtime tomorrow! and if I fail, its having to wait god knows how long till i pick up my new baby!

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

the difficulty of the hazard ID section of the test will probably vary slightly from tester to tester but overall id say its pretty straight forward, just use common sense and you will be fine, identify what you see that could potentially cause some worry e.g. traffic, types of intersections around you, pedestrians, that sort of thing.

I wouldn't get to hung up on it, just enjoy your test, be positive and confident in your answers and you'll be sweet.

One point i might make is that if the tester is following you through a hazard ID section, don't forget to identify them as a potential hazard, the tester who took me said that is one many miss.

All the best with it, enjoy the new bike when you pick it up!!

Don't stress, keep an eye on your speed and try to relax. Test down this way was actually fairly relaxed and a lot easier than I was expecting.

Hazard stuff will be easier than you think. Basically anything that can move is a hazard. The person following you, on-coming traffic, traffic at an intersection, vehicle coming out of a driveway, person crossing the street or waiting to etc.

Also dont forget the road itself can be a hazard.. slippery, wet, manholes? All that. Don't forget vehicles moving the other way, kids in driveways... Anything.

    Thanks people

Its like all "tests" always seem worse than they are (Hopefully)

Anyone else done their test at Northcross?

Any ideas if they use headsets or not?

    Cheers

Um, I didn't get asked any hazard questions on my full test. I wondered if it was because the headsets weren't available and therefore the examiner couldn't ask me any questions "on the spot". I had even (multi-tasking my brain for this event) memorised several potential hazards i noticed in case he asked me afterwards. I felt somewhat cheated that he didn't get to witness my incredible memory skills!
You will be fine, just go with the flow and when it's all over you will realise (as most of us do) that it really was a case of just getting wound up over nothing.

    I got it!

It started out all good, the lady had the headset for me.....

However..... once we pulled out and started riding.... the damn thing didnt work!

So we got rid of the headset and did it the old manual way...
All sweet as, passed with flying colours!

The only thing she picked me up on was going through a roundabout straight ahead and not indicating to the left when exiting.... but who cares now, cause I have my full...

    Which means........

I get my BRAND NEW GSXR600 at lunch time today!

Man, what a relief and what a prize in the new bike.

Will post up pics when I get her home tonight!

Thanks for all your support and helpful answers, it has helped a huge amount!

    Ride safe
