crf 230 any good for the farm?

looking at getting a crf 230 for mostly farm use but also for tracey to go on the odd trail ride and just general blat when we go out camping by the whanga river.
but how will the crf compare to say a dr 200 or ctx 200 which are staright out farm bikes.
i want to put a rack on the crf so i can sit standards or reels on it. will the frame handle it?
or am i better just getting the proper farm bike and just let trace use it on the trail or the crf or ttr a better option
    any help appreciated.

hey, a mate of mine had a crf230, he used it for motorcross, and it was their farm bike for getting in the cows etc. it held up pretty good but eventually the suspension gave up.. but im guessing thats just because he was a loony. the engine was bullet proof though!

i hope this helps in some way,
My choice is what I choose to do,
And if I'm causing no harm, it shouldn't bother you.

We used to set CRF230's up for farm use at the Honda shop.We would fit a front mudflap, bark busters, rear carrier, seat cover and side stand washer to give it a bigger foot print. Not as good as the CTX200 for ignorant farmers, but a lot more useful if you want something a bit faster and better handling.Seized shock linkages and front caliper pins are the biggest problem.Pays to clean them sometimes....

CRF230 is not a bad farm bike, better trail ride bike than the DR200/ctx200, but the DR/ctx is a better farm bike,

also can look at a DRZ250, not to much more money, with a lot better suspension, and brakes, we have alot of guys that use them as farm bikes,

Biggest selling dirt bike in Aus and it's farmers that are buying them.

My brother in law has both DR200 and CRF230 on his sheep farm down Southland way.

He mainly rides the DR as double side stands and suspension is much more plush when riding around with dog/gear etc.

We also uses his CRF230 more in summer as less tendency to break traction and tear up the paddocks that have been sown.
