    The challenge. Need help...

Yo guys. Here is the thing. I have till Friday to find a bike that will handle me (large person) and the LTNZ will let me ride on my restricted (no hard out sports bikes) and is under about 2.5-3k. So what do you think?
I would use the 650 but it is needing a lot more work than i hoped...
    Thanks

well your first problem is that you shouldn't be riding anything bigger than a 250 on a restricted. So you'll need a 250. Even if it's just for an afternoon to do the test. Why can't you use the Katana?

I read that he is looking for a bike to apply for an exemption to ride.

Are you able to hire a 250 for the test. I know there's a crowd that hire them, cant think of there name of hand, but if you have a BRM magazine they are listed in there.

the exemption will only apply to one bike. so you will need to re-do it if you want to ride any other bike.

    Smile Good Luck!

You clearly know what you are doing, but just in case... We just got my oldest son sorted out for a 400cc, very similar reasons.

    Here the thread: http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...ad.php?t=62783

As the exemption is applied for by going to AA and filling in the forms, then if needed forwarding more info (like we did with the pics) I am not sure how you have gotten that far that they say OK, get a bike by Friday? We applied once we had the bigger bike.

But perhaps there is other ways to do it? I have heard about riders who have an exemption for anything up to a certain size and no restriction on what bike. But I have not seen that, so might be just a tale??

If you are happy to ride something a fraction older, then there is heaps of them on TM. Currently a few XV750's, more of the NV400's etc. All under 3K. And if you know something about bikes you can quickly sort out the good uns from the lemons. Go for something with a current WOF and Rego as not having those might stop them from giving you the exemption.

So my recommendation: A 2 cylinder 4 stroke cruizer type or tourer. About 10 - 20 years old with Rego and WOF. Should not cost you more then $2K.

    Here a few:

    But there is heaps more.

The one who searches will find!!
