Buying a new bike, finance options? And bike opinions (ER6-F/Ninja 650r)

I'm terrible at all of the above. Sorry!

So I'm looking to buy a brand new bike, an ER6-F 2008 in pretty black to be exact. It's a bike with everything I love and need without the massive price tag. (Which also means my ol beauty the 1990 ZZR600 will be up for sale soon hehe).

Now, as far as my memory serves, East City Motorcycles said their interest rates are at 14% for finance (don't quote me on that), my current bank (National Bank) is 16% for a loan. Obviously 14% is more desirable, but if I were to spread the payments out over the course of a few years, if I wanted to, would I be able to lump a sum of money on the finance to get it down quicker? Would I still have to pay the full years interest anyway? I know with The National Bank, you can pay lump sums at any time and pay the loan off faster. I am not sure about this with the finance company East City deals with (not sure on the company sorry).

Are there any other alternatives? Like motorcycle specific finance companies or something? I have heard of Moto Finance but their website doesn't seem to be loading for me right now.

Also any opinions on the ER6-F with the raised stock bars would be great too.. sitting position feels great but I haven't taken one for a test ride yet, I'm not sure how I would cope with the naked bike riding position (I think I've had enough of head down-ass up riding positions hehe).

I've looked at all the previous posts about the bike and the general consensus is that they're the bees knees, but most seem to put lower bars on. I'm just wondering if this is personal preference, or if it improves response/handling of the bike.

well i cant help on your specific bike ,but what i can tell you is that on my cb900 putting lower and wider bars stopped vibration completely ,and changed the steering for the better (cant explain how ,but it just feels like i do alot less effort to get the thing to turn in etc)

Yeah I checked out that link, very good info! Seems you can't do much wrong with the bike which is a definite plus, I'll be using it as my only mode of transport . I don't go anywhere near the potential of my ZZR600 and it still has good accelleration, so I think I'll be in for a treat going back to ptwin (first bike was a gpx 250!) and soaking up the lovely, lovely low down accelleration !

Low interest credit cards aren't bad. Interest rate about 13.5%. No setup fees or hidden costs. Pay as little or as much as you like each month (provided you meet the minimum payment). Buy on credit card (from shop) or cash advance (for private purchase). Just another option really.

We've always found the 100% deposit, no repayment schedule to be the one that is best for our pocket.

Thanks Paulus, I'll take that into consideration too.

Most ER6-F's aren't demo bikes and have already been sold and there's a wait till March or so until places bring them in.

I was just wondering if there was anyone in Auckland/South Auckland that has an ER6-F/N (I assume the N's ride the same in regards to seat height and bars) that I could maybe have a little pootle up and down the road on? I would be ever so appreciative

Go to Mt Eden Motorcycles and ask for a test ride. When I did, they threw the keys at me and said 'take it where you like, for as long as you like, and please try to be back by the time we close' (which given that I got there at 10am, and they closed at 4.00, gave me quite a bit of testing time).

Yeah it is and yeah they are great bikes! Would you happen to know what pipe she put on hers? I've only heard the Gianelli pipe which is waaay too loud and raw for me, I want to be heard but not "look at me everybody! i'm loud!" heard :P

finally your going to buy a new bike .how far away are you from purchasing the beast they are a good bike would have bought one if i hadnt bought a new burger.
