    New tyre needed

I'm currently using a Battlax BT-002 on rear of a 'blade worn out after 8500 ks, what do people think of this tyre? Do I replace both tyres with something different as front is also an 002 and fine, or just put another 002 on back and then replace as a set?

    I dont get it
    everyone wants long lasting tyres
but most want at the time of purchase ,a tyre that wont let go
then at say the kms youve done 8500 km i get the impression that the tyre didnt last long enough

i spent about 3 months checking on the net forums and magazine write ups about tyres, and the longer lasting ones and the gripper ones better in the wet better in the dry

The total conclusion is you get what you pay for and it will last depending on the rider

    But i do know this
a metzler roadtec has lasted 1000Km already at 40 psi and i can only just see the new surface has just worn and no more, most of the riding was 2 up as well

Thats a great amount of K's for a blade. If you're happy with that, buy another 002. I love them.
Got 7000km out of my first rear and about 8 out of second. Thats on a 600...

Agreed 8500km's on a blade is a lot of km's from a BT002. I know someone who only gets 3000km from a rear and that's on a 600. (no not me)

I've only used them on my track bike which doesn't count.

I would personally get another rear and then replace them as a set. Then you don't have to throw away a half used front.

8500 isnt alot. I got 12500 out of my last pilot road 2. That is a great tyre. I expect at least 10000km out of a tyre. mix of commuting to cafe riding to touring. I have MeZ4 on at the moment and they will probably wear the same as the PR2 but they feel different on the road. Big fan of PR2.

my two cents. try a different tyre then see how many k's you get. every rider is different and every road is different. i just got 6000km out of my front tyre (Michelin polit) and my back tyre is still sweet

The BT002 and Pilot Road are so different it's not funny.
8000km out of a supersport tyre is great.

yes. that is true but it is still money that buys them. I would rather pay out money for a tyre every 12000k than 8
