Thread: What do you drive and why ??

  1. #226
I only ride a bike when I feel like it,only when I'm not working,so that means sundays - it's about 2 months since I last rode my street bike.Otherwise I put a 1000km a week into my diesel Pajero....and my other car is a diesel Nissan Vanette. If you think that doesn't make me a biker - that's fine by me,I've never given a fuck what you think anyway....

That right there is what I think actually makes a biker a biker, no matter what they ride/drive.

I'm in a very unusual position. Very rarely drive a car, but I own one.
Ride the bike regularly, but don't own one.
Thanks to a balls up at the registration department the papers for the wife's car came back with my name as owner. Six months later the papers for the latest bike came back with her name on. Her riding days are long gone so she ain't likely to use it. On the other hand I have a shiny, fully optioned, low milage Merc S320 sitting in the driveway. Come trade in time I should be able to get a good deal on a new bike. (or maybe two) Who says there aint a god.

I usually (98% of the time) ride the RF, but my good lady wife and I (and out 2 kids) share a Subaru Forrester Turbo)

Goes like the clappers too I'll tell ya - for a 2 litre... WOO HOO!

    Anyhoo.. *ahem*

It's a family wagon, and being a wagon still has room for kids stuff/luggage in the boot.

Drive a Honda Prelude. Just an ordinary one, can't be bothered with fancy cars. If I have to cart something, or drop off a passenger. Or if I have to visit a customer, cos no matter what I do I haven't come up with bike gear that comes across as professional. And an ancient Pajero (the old 2.6L petrol one) that I use to cart heavy / big stuff or pick up broken bikes, or take Mrs Ixion places where roads are not. Or tow things .

And sometimes borrow Mrs Ixion's 1986 Nissan 1300cc Sunny (50000 genuine k's and totally immaculate - which is why I don't borrow it often , I'm scared I might scratch the upholstery). My cars are rough as - well maintained mechanically, and no rust, but they're old and high mileage annd it shows. I don't care , vehicles is transport not art. That's the difference between Mrs Ixion and I.

Up until recently I rode my bike to work and when out and about in the evenings. Unfortunately now I have to drop the Bifflings off in the morning, and as they won't fit in my top box, I drive a car to work. It's a 1990 Nissan Primera 2 litre auto. Old, yep - but it's been reliable so far, it's economical, it cost me $1800 at a car auction, and I love pi$$ing off the directors and CEO here by parking in between their German and Italian exotica in my battered up ole machine. Grrrrrrreat fun.

My Mrs has an extremely nice car. Late model Mercedes Benz e series - AMG stuff, killer stereo.
I borrowed it once to visit a client in rain like today. Got as far as the traffic in Greenlane - 2km maybe - Emitted a loud 'fuck this' - turned around, went straight back home and grabbed my Thunderbird and haven't really driven or been in it since. (supermarket maybe - but i usually do that on the bike too)

All Cars suck. Motorcycles are life.

    '91 Diamante.
Its big and comfortable, carry lots of stuff etc.
Sort of the opposite of a bike.
I usually only take it when its wet, too cold, or i'm just going a short distance.
    Its also scared of corners.

Costs nearly $100 to fill there days.
