How do you clean your leathers?

Hello boys and Gals. I had decided to clean my leather jacket today, read the instructions and it said just to use water and a towel and to wipe it off. no wasning by hand or machine, no ironing, no soap. Tried with a towel and water - works but it is far from clean. Went to the supermarket but I had no luck finding a leather cleaner. there is a conditioner but not cleaner.

What do you use to clean your leathers ? Any special chemical for cleaning leather on the market ? any special technique? taughts and advice highly apprechiated.

I use a spray-on leather show cleaner. It comes with its own brush so makes quick work of cleaning bugs etc off. Then I treat them with a leather conditioner.

This place stocks the Secondwind range, but I don't see the specific cleaner I use.

I think you can PM BabyB, she'll sell you a great cleaner/conditioner fluid. She also does great professional cleaning and restoring jobs... and I mean AWESOME. Look at the photos in this thread...

I've been dealing with them for patching up binned leathers and they do a great job, though I am sure she would know a few things about cleaning leathers.

lol , no kitty, its from the polution of all the cars. the slide I had can hardly be noticed on my jacket(which is leather) - my pants anoither story lol.

I use jif to get bugs and stuff of. Its leather if it can take a falling to the road it will pretty much take anything to clean it.

If its mould (like my cruiser jacket was covered in) then just warm water and soap.

Johnson (and Johnson?) baby wipes, full of conditioners etc, no acids etc.
Dirt cheap too.
Any quality brand of baby wipes should be fine.

My road leathers are fairly new, so I am using just a wet cloth presently. As an aside there seems to be a lot of bugs around this summer: judging by the amount of spooge I wipe off after even only a couple of hours riding

I'd love to say thanks and take credit but I can't, was put on to it by a guy round here that makes racing leathers, very interest bloke, everything he says seems to say seems to make perfect sense once he gives you his usual in depth explanation....
