    Bike help..

Hi all, I have just looked into getting my second set of wheels.
What im looking at getting is a bit of a mongrel, It is a 1997 YZF750, well the frame is at least..
It has a earlyer YZF1000 engine in her, an absolute army of carbon body parts, all the front/rear fairing a carbon/titanium exhaust and its currently sporting all teh cadbury boost logos as well as the colour (purple).

The guy wants around 7k for it, it has 20,000km on it but im not sure..
I had a very good look over it and everthing seems normal, and the guy who owns it has been racing on a national level (both here and in the UK) for close to 30 years and does seem pretty genuine (and i also work with him)

What i really want to know is, is this a resonable deal, as i am really having to streach my budget to buy it.. I orrinalally wanted to spend 5-6.

    Cheers

Thats a tough one to answer. It sounds pretty steep for a "bitza", but might be done to a standard that warrants that price. Pretty low kms for the 750 to need a new[old]motor?. Could be an individual thing-if you love it, its a good buy,but resale could be an issue. If it was me[and it is NOT me],I would prefer a stock standard bike rather than a modified...my 2cents

That is a tough one mate. How does it ride? What use are you planning to put it to? Is it all road legal? I imagine you could pick up something like a 97 Fireblade in original nick for $6-7,000 and there would be less risk involved for similar performance. If it rides well, is road legal and all the bling is well done then he might get 5-6 on the open market I think. But I'm thinking on my feet herre with limited info. Definitely have a look around at bikes of a similar vintage and capacity. All the mods he has done may have cost a lot but don't necessarily add anything to the selling price. Good luck.

    both very good points..
    cheers..

It has a crapload of very good looking stuff on it.
I have been told (by the owner) that it will out handle a R1 with ease but on the straights the R1 will be faster..
As i am after more of a corner machine than an all out speed demon it does sound more like me..
I will try and get some pics!
    Cheers.
