Inaugural Waitangi Day Beach Hop (learner friendly)

Postponed until further notice - I'm now heading north with Maha_man

    Well Guys

I can't be arsed doing a balls out Coroloop on Wednesday (I guess I got enough of that on Anniversary Weekend) so here's the idea.

    Meet: Shell Westgate 8:30am
    Depart: 9:00am
Destination: Open for Suggestions somewhere for Lunch about 2pm (maybe Long Bay)

What I had in mind was a Beach Hop.

    My plan was to visit
    • Huia
    • Piha
    • Anawhata (bonus points for those on Chook chasers, double bonus' for other crazy's who tackle the gravel)
    • Bethels Beach
    • Muriwai Beach
    • Parikai
    • Shelly Beach

I haven't been down any of these roads so I thought it could make for a good mornings ride.

This is not a group ride per se' everybody is responsible for getting themselves to each of the venues and taking a digital photo on their camera or phone as "proof" that they actually visited the spot. Of course there will inevitably be "groups" what I mean is there will be no pointers or stopping to wait at interesections etc. Just find your way to the end eventually and enjoy the day / ride

My hope is that we get lots of people, on all sorts of bikes, (sports, tourers, adventure, classics, 250's, pillions, the whole spectrum)

This is the first time I've tried anything like this, so any suggestion particularly regarding the roads, timing and final destination would be really welcomed

    Please register here

    Cheers

    Shane

I don't actually plan on going any further north than the ATNR takes us so you shouldn't have any problems getting back for work.
