    Hi Mate
If you've done those two tracks then I don't think you should have any worries about coming along. If it's wet then I'd say we'd all be having fun (esp. Jim on the big beemer - actually he seems to have too much fun - not necessarily while it's happening though - but basks in the glory later ), and the more hands the better too. And there's always the choice to turn back. The more the merrier.

It's the "not doing housework" I'm not buying

I'd never stop him going for a ride, he loves that big bike, even when it's on it's side in the mud. Well maybe not always then, he has been known to put the boot in when she's down.

So we meet at caltex 9:30, but is anybody going to be at a different place (coming from the north maybe)? We should agree on time and place to avoid innecessary wait. My phone is o21-54o-247.

Which caltex are you talking about. There are a few of them around.

I'm coming from the north, so what time shall we meet in Pahiatua. 11ish?

Right, I'd better go and start wrestling with my back tyre.

I was talking about the one on the first post, Caltex rimutaka (SH2). Regarding the time I'm not sure cause don't know how long it will take to us (first time for me doing it) but surely some of the other guys should be able to answer that.

    Makairo Sunday

Well we met at Caltex Rimutaka at 9.30,Busa Jim Pampa Rob888 Howie and myself headed over the hill about 9.50 to stop for gas at Pahiatua where we were to meet Bart at 11.30,the weather was claging in a bit so at 11.50 we opted to make a start.
We were soon at the start, time to lower tyre pressure as it was now damp.the bush was a bit overgrown making it hard to see the ruts ,as usual I dropped my bike first on a silly hump between 2 deep ruts but the boys soon arrived to help turn the bike right way up, I don't know why Dakars always end with handlebars lower than the wheels. The big GS had to be manhandled out of some head deep ruts but we were soon out and on our way to Wahi Falls. This is a great piece of road, excellent for power sliding ay Robb.
On the way to the Falls a display of unorthodox cornering caused a small accident, I didn't know what my injuries were until I was in the shower and my little finger went up me nose while I was washing my face, what was that i thought only to find my finger was bent down and had no feeling in it,so I suppose it will off to the quack if it doesn't improve in a couple of days any way we got to the falls which were a bit dry and something was dead so we didn't linger, from there we had a quick ride to Pongoroa and onto Masterton via Alfredton then home.
Feel free to add gory details and photos if you wish guys

Sorry guys. It pissed down so I didn't make it. Maybe I should have let you know.

Anyway, sounds like you had fun.

Well I arrived late to Rimutex, but the others were still there, glad I made it otherwise it might have been mistaken for a BMW ride. K slider has already described most of the route, so I won't add a lot apart from that the KLR also had a lie down on the track, but no harm done apart from a slightly sore wrist, thanks for the help picking it up. It was good to meet you guys.

    • A Makiro Gem. Pampa is standing in a nice knee deep rut.
Pays to keep an eye out for these little suckers

    • Track shot

    • Rob trying to put some fluids back in. It was hot and muggy at this stage

    • Its a bit more overgrown than I remember

    • Nice deep rut on the left. Nice steep drop on the right. ( those are the tops of tall plants ).
I fell off here, trying to get out of that rut. Front wheel did it, back wheel tried to kill me.

    • Helping Howie out after another Rut attack. By this stage K slider and I had
already had similar experiences. Rob and Pampa where saving up

    • Great scenery here. This is what you can see if you look over the edge
      of the track.

    • Walking back after helping someone out.

    • We're out, anyone game for a hill climb?

    • On the way to Waihi falls

    • So how did Rob8888 get 90 degrees to the road?

    • By doing this.
Bloody spectacular rob. And he was decent enough to do
it right in front of Pampa and I.
