It's not the smoothest state highway in the land that's for sure. Frost heave in the winter and the usual piss poor repairs. Lots of rental cars which tend to use more than their fair share of the road. Then there's the Wanaka Physio lady that likes to yap on her cellphone on the way up the Zig Zag, almost had a headon with her awhile back as she was in the middle of the road approaching a zig as I exit my zag to see her shitting herself.

Not suitable for fanging on a bike, sorry. A nice ride all the same.
    Insert witticism.

Never been to the South Island. And going from the photos in the Zig Zag thread and now this one. I am missing out on some breathtaking scenery....

    Note to self

    1. Book Holidays for next Summer
    2. Book Ferry
    3. Buy panniers
    4. Organise accomodation

    5. Buy new Digital Camera

Go and visit and ride the South Island
