I'd have told him - "fine I'll be back Monday - what discount are you going to give me?"

After all your time has a value as well.

In fact phone first on Monday before you go there - if they are not going to give you a discount, take your business somewhere else.

It's funny, but when I lived in Dunners (and this is alot of years ago) MCR was a two bit fucken wreckers full of absolute filthy, half saleable shit.

Who the hell issued them with a dealership certificate?

That's so true WT but I have been hearing a few good things about them lately!

So much so that I was even going to make it my business to call in and have a look around their shop next time I am in Dunedin.

This is disappointing, maybe there is more to it than Steam is letting on.

You are not being naughty here are you Steam? John.

No no, I didn't want to name them at all really. I'm not really annoyed, I'm just mildly annoyed. It was a boring Saturday afternoon at home, so there was nothing better to do except post about it.
The devil makes work for idle hands.

I too had heard MCR is good.
I just bought a helmet from them and it was at least 20% cheaper there than at a nearby competing dealership,
and they have free ride-on video games.
And they have interested volunteer people hanging around their workshop, that speaks well for their attitude, that they are willing to accept inconvenience to spread knowledge.

they now have probably the largest bike showroom and workshop space in town are agents for Yamaha, MV Agusta, Cagiva, PGo, SYm, Gas Gas, Vespa probably have dunedins best collection of ducatis, and lots of other bikes and have a dyno i have had a few dealings with them over the last year and have found them to be pretty good but i feel they suffer a bit from their success as in everybody wants it now and they perhaps are to busy to make everyone happy.........a mate went to the honda dealer looking for something for his sons 85 250 road bike and was told........fuck off thats pre war.......Rics a good guy and im shure if you mention the fuck up with the tyres he will at least apologise. Did you have a look out the back there has to be over a hundred bikes out there

I deal with them for both my bikes, and they are always friendly, helpful, quick and well priced.
Although I tend to phone ahead an appointment, drop my bike in for a few days, and let them do it when they get the time over those few days.
Was talking to them, and they are definitely very busy, maybe too busy. Even with all the mechanics working back there.

Yeah man. I mean they told you the job would be done. Fuck having no bike for the weekend.

Why'd you not insist it be done? Were they like really big, mean and scary?

I'm a delicate petal. I like to take the easy way of non-confrontation. I need to learn to be more of a hardarse.

From a customer service perspective, the worst thing you can do is create an expectation then not meet it.

I'd be saying "No, Monday doesn't suit, mind if I use the tyre machine myself, at no charge then?" Then start using the machine ..... sure to get there attention!

Take the tyres and wheels home and fit them yourself. It's a useful skill to know. You were able to get the wheels off the bike so you're not completely useless and you have some tools. Get some decent tyre levers and a rubber mallet and you should be good to go. When the tyres are on the rims bowl round to the nearest gas station to pumps them up - take some diluted washing up liquid to help the beads seat.
You save the fitting charge and if they are for the Kawi 250 - well it's not like not balancing them is going to be hyper critical.

The only time a dealer fits a tyre for me is if they do it for free (and thats not often these days)
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.
