A big thanks from Beyond
Just a note to say a big thanks to all who
made last weekends Coro Hook a great event.
I'm going to rant a little here and I hope you
don't mind. A week before we lost Darryl and
Bruce I happened to write this and I know Bruce
well enough to believe he would approve of this
writing. As you know I had my off on that same day
ten minutes before Bruce and Darryl left this world
for another.
Last weekends event was the first full Coro
organised ride I have planned since that event.

Ok, many of you that know me and ride with me, appreciate
the joy of riding a motorcycle. I love speed but I would
hate losing my licence.
My 1400 is an awesome machine and don't let anyone tell
me otherwise. It takes work to manhandle through the
twisties but man does it satisfy my craving for corners
and speed. I love riding and could ride every day
all day but tyres cost me a mint![]()
A couple of years ago I had a Melonama removed and
mans mortality really comes to the forefront at times
like these. I just finished telling my wife that
I would rather die on my motorbike than waste away with
a flesh eating melanoma in agony over months.
Of course I would like to think that GSX1400's or similar
will be around when I'm 80 and I would like to think that
I will still be riding then with some of you guys and girls
I bloody enjoyed last weekend. I really did and I would
like to thank all of you who turned up for making it such
a good ride. The sound of dozens of motorbikes, carving
the corners with people of like minds is just great.
To see Owner, Stify, Idle, Dmntd, Barbender and many of
those in the front few going for it in the twisties
and enjoying themselves is the equivalent of music to the
ears of a musician.
I didn't meet some of you peeps and I know those further
behind enjoyed themselves as well and that is what I
hoped for. I'm not going into the speeds we touched
suffice to say that those further back need not be
embarrased at their riding abilities. We were careful
for sure as I have pulled back a lot since my off and seeing
some more accomplished riders come to grief. This is not a
boast.
I am stoked that were no bins and am so pleased that all
present enjoyed their ride. It was a pleasure meeting most of
you and a big sorry to those I failed to meet.
The Coro is one of my favourite roads. It demands respect
but pays back ten fold when enjoyed to it's full. That
road always satiates me and gives me the fix I need.
Am I an adrenaline junkie? I think so but hell do I love
to ride
Thanks again peeps. It was awesome and you all figure
high in my books. Take care. Ride well and live long.
If I ever happen to come to grief on the road, please tell
my wife about this post. I love life, I love my missus and
daughter and even more so after losing a son but motorcycling
is worth the risk tenfold.
Cheers
Your friend Paul
