Glue marks on paint - solution?

I decided to take all 8 warning stickers off the TL today, along with the home made tank pad - peeled them all off, and scrubbed them with a cloth wetted with lighter fluid to get the glue off.

Worked fine, washed the bike with some wash and wax just to finish, but now there is a very very very fine film on the paint, in swirls etc.. from where some of the glue had been pushed around - making the paint look like it has fine scratches.

I was thinking that a scratch removing type polish would work, but anyone else had this problem?

Love the undertail, may have to get one as cutting the current shovel off could be messy as its as one part with the undertray.

how did you do the front indicators? had a look today, was shocked to find they dont have conventional connectors, and that theres a huge hole to fill once the stock ones are gone

You can get these little adapter plates for about $20 that fill in the hole perfect,they have a hole for the mini indicator stalk to go through,i got them from the sportsbikes NZ wesite,cant find there addy but a web search will get it for you,the undertrays nice but bloody expensive,its an extremegraphics one from canada,you can order a free catalogue on there website,some nice stuff on there.

Get some DisolveIt. You can get it from the supermarket or supercheap/repco for about $10 a bottle. Smells like orange - yum. It gets the glue off. Spray it on, soak for 1 min and all the glue residue wipes off.

i removed the warning stickers off my r6, and had the same problem with the glue not coming off, i used prepsol a.k.a isopropanol a.k.a rubbing alcohol and a microfibre cloth walla all gone and all shiney, and doesnt hurt your paint either

Is it insured? Set fire to it and put in an insurance claim.

stickers = horsepower. Should have left them on!

Prepsol is NOT Isopropylalcohol. IPA is not necessarily a good thing to put near paint...some paints are softened and the gloss surface destroyed by it.
Prepsol will work as will eucalyptus essntial oil or any tar removal product that is safe for paint.

Simple mineral turpentine "turps" will do the job easily.

Just don't use 80grit (it'll take off the glue........paint.......metal..........)

Mate use peanut butter, amazing as is sounds- it works.
Just rub some smooth peanut butter over the sticky patch leave for ten minutes & just rub it all off off with a dry cloth.
You may need to do it twice?

Old post I know, but having found this while searching for threads regards fixing paint issues, I can say from first hand experience, DO NOT USE IPA!!!

I managed to fix my gloss-loss issue with some model paint polishing / finishing compounds (Tamiya Coarse & Fine Polishing Compounds), but it was an experience I do not want to repeat.
