1000cc Fuel Economy - I have searched for this!

Hey guys,

I have searched for some findings with no luck, and I am very interested in what KM's you are getting from your late model thou's

I have a 2006 ZX10 and I am lucky to get 160km from 17l tank

I didnt really think about it but a couple of people have commented that it is super thirsty? Let me know what you get from yours!

Is your bike stock standard or has it had motor mods, as this will affect your fuel economy. Also, depends if you are talking about sober commuter riding or twist of the trottle run as to what it will do.
We've had two of these bikes from brand new. If you give it the gas, well, it wont last long thats for sure (same as the tyres). Cant remember what we managed to get on a commute but Im sure it would have been over 200ks.
My ZX14 (with motor mods) gets 300ish on a commute, but yesterday was twisting the throttle on a fun ride and keeping it in higher rev's (which they love) and it definitely sucked the gas more than usual.

160km a tank...sounds very wrong!

sounds like your not taking into consideration that you don't use the full 17 litres when the fuel light comes on...so maybe 14.5 litres used?? also...are you cruising around town often using too lower gears...like wise on the road?

Sounds like more of a fault with you than the machine...modern Fuel injected thousands are quite economical to run...

To qualify the ZX14 fuel use, it has a 22ltr tank, and the 300kms is well before it is dry

I ride a Blade and am getting 200ks (going into reserve) thats general riding, no hard stuff. Partner runs an SV 1000 and gets about 20ks less.

Not quite a thou (only 937ccs) but I've averaged 14.6km/l over the past two and a half years (50,000 kms) on the RF900R.

Was averaging around 160-180kms till fuel light(15l)on the road,now on the track 85-100kms/15litres

fill to the petrol light- being really good and i mean really good -190, being naughty 130 - 140. not sure how many liters it takes , as just keep filling it up and ride some more.

just found they have a 17ltre tank, so i guess the above details are on 13.5 to 14 litres i think, not sure were that mannual is.

Yeah, by the time you factor in tyres, servicing, brakes, insurance, registration and gear it cost about the same as my SS - very economical indeed.

PS I get about 180 to reserve and about 45 on reserve on an 18L tank on my Fazer. It dropped to 150 to reserve on the last ATNR - but it wasn't a race you know.

Yup, spend more on tyres than petrol, easily.

About 200 to a tank max.

my previous 2004 cb919 ,and one im riding at the moment gets 280km+ highway riding and 220km -/+ in the twisties (has aftermarket pipes too

The RSVR is doing 190km on about 15 litres (18L tank) and that's to the fuel light.

I get 15.5 km/l. That's averaged over 25,000 km.

06 R1, 170km (Akaroa and back from my house) uses exactly 12 litres. Friend has another 06 R1 and it does the same. My old 98 R1 also used exactly 12 litres on the same run. Another friend has an 04 ZX-10R and it too uses around 12 litres. There seems to be a common theme here.
