Second-hand trials bikes?

i am guessing that someone here will be a mung bean munching trials hippy.

i had a play just the other day on a gas gas 200 trials bike. oh so much fun could be had on one of those!

does anyone have any knowledge on what a good beginners bike would be? could i get a decent one for under 4grand?

My brother has a new one and he loves it. It feels so wierd to ride though. LIke you're standing on the back wheels.

you can get some cheap ones off tardme. They don't hold their value much.

I know of a old school Fantic that needs a new drive shaft thats collecting dust and losing value

Im sure it could be had for a resonable price and i know the owner can get the drive shaft

Although a 1992,this Gas Gas looks pretty good and should still be able to ride in Clubmans grade.It's been on my watchlist for a while,but he won't do a fixed price offer.

i also have been trying to get a fixed price offer on the gas gas, it looks perfect for me, especially if he took under 2 grand.

the beta would be awesome! but i don't want to spend that much on a second bike to muck around on.

can you road register trials bikes by any chance? that would be mint......

Early bikes were road registerable,as that was one of the requirements,same as enduro bikes.but most now aren't.A TLR200 was street legal,a TLR250 wasn't,all a bit muddy.Have a look at that Yamaha Scottish,it's got a road kit.But it wouldn't be a lot better than a twinshock.

ok I've probably put my biased bent on this topic a few times. Having bought an aircooled 89 Beta & then had to fix it up I then had to buy a newer bike as they are just so superior for everything. I bought a 2000 GasGas 200 & am so glad I spent the extra $ at the start rather than with the first old clunker. The GG200 is perfect for a novice, but I still haven't outgrown it in 5 yrs.

Make your own decision but having done a lot of work on the old bike I swapped it to a friend so I do ride it every so often. Every time I'm glad I got the GG. Having ridden the 07 Beta there is another jump in improvement, but I don't feel the urge to upgrade, the jump is no where near as big.

depends on what you plan to do, if your just mucking around then what ever you can aford, make sure it has real brakes not drum's.
if your going to ride clubman at your local club then spend the $$$ on a 250 gas gas or beta. 200cc if your a light weight. Maybe a late 90's beta techno or a gas gas jtx250, you will find yourself spending money on a worn out bike if you go too cheap.
id go with what most of they guys in your local area have, that way you will find parts easy.
Gas gas trials bike parts are way cheaper than the moto x bike parts! so dont let that put you off.
