    Gee time flies, kids etc.

Got the loom sorted. . . well found the last few loose plugs homes. Checked them to the wiring diagram.

Hmm. Plugged the bike into a power supply at 6v. Turned the switch. Hmm drawing a bit of current. Lights etc not going. Horn ticks when pushed. But no something is probably shorting. Groan. Another night.

Every time I read your thread I am ashamed of my current lack of progress.

I've seen those. Mixed bag but at least they are complete so I have no moral high ground to stand on.

3.5 years down the track. Lack of sleep and motivation. Other bikes needed the attention.

But a chance scan of Tardme netted what looks like a NOS left pipe and a much better right header I can graft onto mine. Arrived yesterday. Motivation.

Then I found a A3 printable wiring diagram, ie enough resolution to print it that big. Everything else was tiny and grainy. Well that changes everything. I highlighted all the orange power wires so I could trace them and tick where they went was working. I finally had a map I could mark off where I had checked and come back weeks later if need be and see where I was at.

Tried with a power supply instead of a battery for now as 6v battery not to hand.

But I was getting a severe volt drop at the coils.

Took the ignition switch apart and cleaned it up. It was foul and variable resistance reading. Much better now.

Then checked the points. Not good contact after cleaning. Fossicking found a spare pair from other engine. Put them on a time it up.

    SPARKIE SPARKIE,!!

Probably the first time in 35 years.

    Well done.

I've got some pretty blue pills to help you sleep and bright red ones to help on the motivation front if you want some.

Well life got in the way.

    But raining this morning.

Put bike on bench and dusted it off
Have a few issues i found with last time i ferretedabout with it.
First is the left hand kickstarter i got for it is for a GT. Fits fine. Except when you put the high pipes on it no longer able to fold in. Stink.

Could not get the bike to fire even with spray.. Need to double check squish that i made real tight. Or maybe there is loom condition dropping too much voltage.

Then as I came back to it had dumped the contents of the oil tank into the cases. One or both the ball valves in the oil injection system must be not closing i assume.

Also the only okish tank I have doesn't fit. Almost but seems to be too tight at the front oddly. Bought this one 2nd hand perhaps with a seat which is what I wanted due to chrome trim.

A freind suggested a portapak hydraulic doofer that panel beaters use.

Fast forward to today. Ok maybe I'll attack that issue. Make a dowel of wood that slots into the C cups at the front of tank (where tank slides onto rubber mounts).

Fits on other (dented) tank, not on this. Cool can measure. Now how do I stretch it. I know. Scissor jack.

Worked OK but kept springing back. Phone a friend. Who was at work doing a perky. Used the portapak he suggested then he tapped with hammer on welds and other inner bits bodyguys seem to see (hes actually a paint wizard) whilst under under tension to help metal positions itself.

Now to check on bike and test for leaks with meths.

Yep, even when using a porta jack, you do have to extend it a bit more to allow for the memory wanting to go back to original.
The trick is not too much and it should spring back to somewhere near where you want it.
Great idea using the scissor jack.
Every day above ground is a good day!:
