    Air-freighting bikes?

Anyone had any experience shipping bikes by air to Chile.
I know there are several postings on Horizons but they are fairly old now.
So any recent accounts would be great.
    Thanks

I'd be rather interested in the same for the same to Italy. Hiring a bike is hugely expensive, I'm somewhat keen to find out what it would be worth to just take my own.

I would suggest asking around also for people's experience of a good freight agent ... and ten ask them. They're brokers in this very busines so they can shop around. However in this instance I suspect your options are Lan Chile or Lan Chile as they're the only ones with a direct link.

On the other hand, you could do a Google and come up with Lan Chile Cargo

I was talking to one of our freight forwarders a while back and they air freighted 2 harleys to the Chatams - $6.50 per kg!!! (They could have bought lighter bikes!)

Possibly cheaper to Europe/Sth America due to more options???

Costly business, I suggest checking around especially if there are outfits that are used to moving bikes.

I flew mine from UK to Canada, and found that talking direct to the Airlines freight departments saved us a bomb as they looked at all options and rates. Also found the guys in the freight department very friendly, passed us on their staff discounts Thanks Air Canada.
