    New bike. Would you wait?

I was talking to a guy i work with, he said he's just ordered a new harley
Fat Bob, theres none available new at the mo, (he rung every Harley dealer in NZ to find out.) so hes been put on the 09 waiting list!!!!.the 09 list WTF?
No idea when it will turn up.........

Would you wait that long for a bike?.(enter any make______ )
    I wouldn't thats for sure.
I'm too impatient for that if i want to buy something i want it now.....
I said he should grab a flight to the US and get one from there.
    Hes a cash buyer too.

Bloody Harley trying to keep the market from getting saturated.

Uh huh,my best mate recently bought a brand new something glide (Harleys are not my thing) he went to trade his sporty in on it and there offer was akin to an insult so its still in his garage, personally i would have told them to piss off but hes a real Harley fan so bought the new one.I give him credit for being resilient....they insult his old one then he hands over $28000 for the new one,i have spent some time with said $28000 bike but try as i may i still cant understand it,to top it off $28000 is cheap for a new oneHE is well happy though and am betting if need be he would wait for enternity if they convinced him it Was coming.

another mate traded his 02 Duece in on a 08 v rod lost 9.5k on it in 2 years
and they wouldn't thro in a free 1st service! whats up with that?

I like new Harleys but wouldn't pay the premium that they charge for them

Not just Harley. I remember a few years back BMW tried the low supply high demand, high price game. Backfired when the waiting list started to stretch. About that time riders discovered just how good bikes like the ST1100 and the Concours really were.

Only ever bought one brand new bike, and that was an 02 Pan European. New they held their value, and sold it this year for a good price.

Would probably try other avenues...Instead of waiting

Sucked enough to have bought my bike before getting my licence, so it had to sit for a week without being able to ride it legally.....

Mate was importing a bike from the states a few months ago. The agony and frustration for him when it was delayed and detained and lost in transit was not a pretty sight. Took someof the shine off the bikes arrival, he's got more patience than I would have in that situation
