No disrespect for the girl who died, nor am I minimising the loss her family and friends have suffered, BUT wouldn't it be nice if they would do a segment on our concerns with cheesecutters??

Saw the show too. I don't think we bikers came across terribly well, but was quite surprised that there was a fair amount of footage of speeding cars. Not quite balanced reporting, but better than the usual "evil bikers" stuff.

Looks like a fair amount of Darwin-award type behaviour going on, though.
    Redefining slow since 2006...

What annoys us, we were in a couple of 4x4 just driving up the beach to the bombing range, is the long liners who park between the water and surf but dont mark their lines, a couple use cones which is good, but they are parking in the middle of a highway.......

I only saw a tiny bit of it, I did though see a horse, Perhaps they should look into them, I'm pretty sure its the most dangerous activity in NZ (per head of population)

    Typical motorcyclists...

"We can ride however we like... we could go like rocket ships along here if we want to... bloody greenies and the PC brigade trying to ruin everybody's fun... Would they rather have us sitting at home taking drugs or something? blah blah blah... "

So now we have 30kph limits and heavy policing with laser guns on beaches.

    Learn from this people.

He was talking about up at the dunes/bombing range I think, not the general beach when he made that statement, do you know the area at all? or are you jumping on the anti fun wagon as well!?

You have to question how much they actually care about people being injured up there though, mates Dad broke his neck knee boarding up near the bombing range and after driving 20 mins to get cell coverage was told they would send a helicopter to get him, but that he had to get his Dad into the truck and drive the 50 mins down to the road access......... just what you need with a broken neck.

    Thumbs down

    Dickheads!!

And then the dickheads get bored going up and down the beach...

And then the dickheads go into the forestry for something different..and the dickheads compete with other authorised recreational users... including organised family trail rides with directional arrows etc etc... result, head on..Your or your kid perhaps!!!

And then the dickheads go into the motorbike park cutting fences and end up going the wrong way on their 10k bike because its too expensive to pay the same price as you would to see a movie for a whole days riding. Cheapest fuckin motorsport in the world(debatable I know).

And then the dickheads fuck it up for the rest of us and complain "THERES NO WHERE FOR US TO RIDE, EVERYTHING IS SHUTTING DOWN AND SOCIETY IS SHITTING ON US"

    Last word LOSERS!!

Yeah I know the area well!!

Anything above high tide is not public land but leased land. Including the dunes, forestry and the bombing range(technically). Can I come and ride at your place please???

Its just never been policed before.

So are people not allowed in the bombing range?

I know the forestry is off limits. But what is wrong with people using the tracks and trails that exist in the bombing range? Its miles from anywhere.

Actually, no you aren't allowed on the range. Its defence property and unless you are defence you aren't supposed to be there. The reason for that by the way, is that there is unaccounted for, unexploded ordanance all over the range, so its to protect you arse. I spent close to 30 yrs in the Airforce by the way, thats how I know this. But hey, go for it, run over one and its one less they have to find.

Daisy (the girl that died after being hit by the motorcyclist on the beach) is my second cousin. I was at my Mum's in Tauranga when she got the call from my uncle. I actually answered the phone and knew something was wrong. Shit...what a thing to wake up to on New Years Day 2008.

Well the signs that used to be up there only forbid going in whilst flag Bravo was being flown. I will remember my MD 58N next time......

Saw a DOC ute tootling in and about there on the weekend. Are they trained to recognise UXO?

And the amount of traffic through those trails would of cleared them well before we have gone in there.

Nien, tis not allowed as the Air force lease it(you whom is military)
Yes, tis miles from anywhere and therefore when there is a coming together we have a problem. Ever stopped to think as you come around a corner at even 50k if there is another dude coming around the same corner at the same speed, and 50k is slow up there, as you mentioned regarding your friend Dads accident.

"mates Dad broke his neck knee boarding up near the bombing range and after driving 20 mins to get cell coverage was told they would send a helicopter to get him, but that he had to get his Dad into the truck and drive the 50 mins down to the road access......... just what you need with a broken neck."

Hey, I'm not against having fun but its the 5% of dicks that fuck it up for the rest. Always was and always will be.
