    Cool Napier Dyno Shootout

Today Procycles in Napier opened their doors for a Dyno shootout open to any streetbikes. Bike rolled in most of the day with a good mixture of Harleys & Jappa's.

I decided to try out my GSXR600K3 managing to squeeze 97hp at the back wheel, stock standard bike except for a micron muffler, 4800k's on the clock so barely run in. Not bad for a little bike & to consider there was no ram air.

A GSX1400 managed a disappointing 98hp, only 1 hp more than mine for all that extra 800cc's.

A few GSXR1000's, a stock standard K3 that had done a few k's managed 149.5hp, a brand new K3 off the shop floor 100% stock standard and not run in managed 145hp, a K1 that had done a few more k's and had more go fast bits than I can mention including a Yoshi exhaust, aftermarket air filter, power commander (not currently plugged in), remapped stock computer to suit Yoshi exhaust managed a slightly disappointing 141hp.

    A 124 cubic inch (2032cc's) Harley managed 122hp. A turbo'd Harley managed 118hp.

A guy turned up on a new Triumph (the big beast) but refused to put it up. Probably didnt want to be shown up by a 1000cc Jappa.

Many more but nothing too exciting.

No bikes went bang, not a bad day.

    Nice

Would liked to have brought my putter along, and shown you all how it's REALLY done Only thing, I'd be too scared to put it up, in case it DID go bang

Was it a dyno with a direct link to the chain, or rear wheel on rollers? (btw, did that question make me look like I know what I'm talking about? I read on KB a while back, and saw there were 2 types )

Dyno was a rear trye on rollers type, better than other roller types I've seen before with little wheelspin. I was a dynojet and they are also the agents for tuning power commanders.

Then my mate had to ring up and tell me that his 04 Fireblade CBR1000RR was on the dyno a couple of weeks ago an managed 151hp with no ram air. And his friends CBR600 managed 91hp.
