$25,000 - Build your dream sports bike

    One post only per person.

Select a bike, and list all the mods (you would do to it if you were to spend a total of now more than $25,000 on the bike.

Include pics too if you can so people know what you're talking about.

Now $25k isn't a whole lot of money in the scale of things so be resourceful (i.e start with second hand bike? - you'll need to post a link to verify the price etc)

Post prices in New Zealand Dollars.

See what you can come up with!

    More money for addon bits...

I'm trying to find the price for the YEC 'Race' Head-gasket which ups the compression ratio to the same as the 08 model.

Also i prefer the colour scheme on the white R6 to the new one, you'll see why soon.

And the tail piece on the 08 model looks a bit wierd.

Hornet250Boy - the $25k is for spending on the bike... assuming you have this much to spend on the bike alone im sure you wouldnt have any trouble buying tyres/trackdays/leathers...

    Dream bike`

    TL1000R with a GSVR vee 4 fitted.

No fucking idea how you'd even get a GSVR motor tho'

Okay, seriously, probably my TL1000 ($6500) with a new set of ohlins forks ($2500) throw in a set of light wheels ($3000?), a new paint job ($2000), some full race fairings ($2500) a titanium blue 2-1 exhaust, ($2000) and as many tyres and tanks of gas as I could get for the change!!

    One of these.

Ok, I'd start by buying this race Honda SP2 for say $5000USD ($6340NZD) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=50006
Then I'd sell off the wheels (2 sets), fairings, tank, brake rotors (2 sets) and PCIII for say $3000 so all up the bike has cost me $3300 NZD so far.

Then it's on to www.durbahn.de (the man is a genius!) and start shopping at http://shop.durbahn.de/shop/en/bikes...P2__and__RC51:
    Carbon airbox/fuel tank/dummy tank/tail section monococque
    carbon fairing
magnesium wheels (33-50% less rotating mass)
Lightweight ceramic brake rotors (0.7-1.1KG's less rotating mass)
lightweight alternator (1.3kg's less rotating mass)
Lightweight clutch basket/plates (2.8 vs 4.2kg OEM rotating mass)
MOTEC with advanced functions upgrade (traction/launch control/quickshift etc)
Battery relocator (smaller battery, much better location)
High compression pistons (less weight, more power)
Large crank case breather (engine shouldn't be a pump)
cable clutch conversion (less weight, better feel)

    PARTS TOTALLING approx $19500 NZD

To that lot I'd add a front mount HRC copy radiator for more weight over the front wheel.
I'd also do a bit of cylinder headwork, have the cams reground and remove the waste of space quietening gears which should bring me up to almost spot on $25000 using most of my own labour.

That would have a bike weighing 50kg's (proven) less than your average VTR1000 SP2 and with much of that reduction being rotating or unsprung mass the effects would be even more pronounced. 150 rear wheel horsepower doesn't sound like much these days but in a bike weighing similar to an Aprilia RS250 it would be something pretty special.

can I just keep my bike, so saved 8g already. Then spend 25k on bits? I could blow 10 large on the engine alone.. blueprinting, upgrading, flowing it etc
leathers, brembo brakes, Ohlins front and rear, turbo, spare frame, mag wheels, damper, spare helmet, some way of getting the bike to the track etc etc
