    Suffering major withdrawals

My bike hasn't got a rear wheel on it since Tuesday.

Couple of weeks back I hit a a large bump in the road two up and this has happened before so thought nothing of it. The day after, was cleaning the bike and discovered a flat spot on the edge of the rim and it was sticking out a bit

So, on Tuesday night was taking the rear off to get a new tyre fitted and thought a good time to straighten that rim. Got a hunk of rubber and the hammer and gave it a good couple of whacks and presto, flat spot and bulge now gone...BUT what the hell????

Nice hairline crack in the rim right where the bulge was. Now that's kinda of risky and could end up deflating rapidly if it spread at speed, so I get some quotes.

$1200.00 for a new rear wheel. That's off the list. So, it's in Cambridge getting repaired and powder coated so no bike for at at least a week.

Those that know me and ride with me know that I have to get my fix at least once over the weekend..................

Feeling a little sad right now looking at my black beauty with no rear donut.

Hugs for you... Don't know if I'd have been game enough to do that with a hammer!

Thanks for the huggy... feeling better after that and yep, another expensive lesson learnt. Don't try to whack your bike into shape with a hammer even using a rubber block Aluminium obviously gets bent out of shape easily enough with a whack from the road but another whack just seems to split it.

You can't complain mate. Try going 3 months without one.
Lucky me though I just finished putting one of them back together ready for later today.

Dr. Scholer prescribes a good dose of HTFU!

You can survive 6 weeks without suffering permanent trauma. What happens after the 6th week noone knows...

    I survived 6 weeks

    Hope it all goes well!
It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)
