as for that date, how fixed is that? it just so happens to be the weekend between lectures ending and exams starting for us uni students, so getting up before noon on saturday isn't happening, and most of us will be too busy panicking about exams to prepare a bike/actually do the ride/deal with an injury

long story short, the 1st to 19th of july are the given dates for the inter-semester break

But then after the 19th you'd have exams right? So it'd be unadvisable to do it at all after the 19th. So unless people are gonna be organised before that date I think the 6th is one of the few times to actually be able to do it.

no, the 1st to the 19th is the break between semesters. so after exams and before lectures start again.

i would call it a holiday, but i just end up working
