Triumph cruiser to be 1700cc parallel twin

Triumph cruiser will be a 1700cc parallel twin (not 1500cc as first thought).
A couple of questions;
1. Is a Harley rider always a Harley rider, ie. he'll NEVER change brands?
2. or would Harley riders seriously consider this as a viable option?

It's obviously designed to break into that market.

I guess its WHY the person rides a Harley. If its because they love the brand then no - changing brands isnt going to happen.

If they ride them because they fell in love with a specific bike - then who knows - Triumphs make some very sexy bikes that could interest them next time.

One thing i've liked about the modern Triumphs, is that they're distinctly Triumph. So I dont see why a Harley fanboy would neccesarily want to switch.

If I was going to buy a cruiser, it'd be a Triumph America. Loved riding that bike.

capable as the modern HD is for its intended use, I personally am not comfortable owning one (but if you want to lend me yours, thats fine). So I am looking very seriously at Triumph (and have looked at Guzzi also).

Not that one though I have my eye on another from the range.

yeah, I've ridden a couple of Hardleys. Some I know swear they'll never switch. Me, I'm more than happy with the America (at the moment), but that new Trumpy may be on the wish list in the very near future (just don't tell the missus)

As a long time Harley rider, I have all ways loved the Triumphs as well, But if I were to buy one, It would be one of their sports orientated models.

Even though I am a cruiser guy I must admit this Triumph Street Tracker
is one heck of a nice looking bike.

That pic. was discussed to death on another thread (in sports bike form?)
It's just a mule to test the motor etc, so ignore how it looks. The final bike could be completely different.
Although I hope the final result looks similar to the America & Speedmaster

Ugly looking beast - but then it will be the engine they are testing.

I am surprised the Japanese have not introduced a 1800-2000 cc water cooled in-line 4 muscle cruiser - embrace the USA's love of drag racing and go for that long swingarm low drag bike look.

It does not need to handle any better than the average cruiser.

Basically revise the Kawaka Eliminator concept but big power it and keep it very simple and clean style wise.

Yes there is the V-max but face it that is 20 years old! The B-King - fugly.
