Have a go guys, it's great riding, no quads, no slow riders ( unless your on my minute ) & lots of fun. I'm not to sure how long it'll be Oparau was 5 or so hours, but I believe this one will be a bit shorter 3-4 hours & a bit tighter.
They are really well marked tracks good riding & if I can do it Cheese/Buddy etc should be able to & it's in your back yard.

Yeah it was pretty evil, I managed 3/5 stages & houred out, having the bike stall in a water filled rut ( knee deep ) & not being able to restart for ages didn't help but was on track to hour out anyway, I'm a bit worried I sucked water into the crankcase ( I think I sucked water into the carbie which is why it would not go, certainly once I was able to flush it, which meant removing the water from the rut as I couldn't drag the bike out, I got it going ), so an oil change to check that tomorrow is top of the priorities along with adding a 17mm spanner to the kit bag ( leaning the bike on it's side & using the breathers to flush the carbie is not the best technique ).

It was unfortunate for the event as without the rain the stages would have been awesome & there was some great riding, but it rutted up pretty bad & it was pretty slippery, with one downhill you were speeding up going down fully locked front/back brakes ( touching the brakes induced lockup ) & some of the uphills were "fun", you definitely didn't want to stop on them, as restarting was tough once stopped, a fair few tree roots ( ok shite loads ), but they were generally ok.

To put it in context just over 1/2 the experts & 1/2 the intermediates finished the course & the guy who runs Thundercross reckoned it was the toughest enduro he'd ever done.

All up fantastic organisation/marking, great ride & absolutely the best burgers afterwards just a shame about the rain .

Yes this was a toughy. The last terrain test just fucked you. Two sets of rear brake pads and some went through three sets.

Impressive the way the pro's power past after 3-4 hours on a test, flying over roots and jumping knee deep ruts while we amatuers flounder along.

Good event and really back to the old hard out days.

Was that you Takitimu with the orange jacket? I was with you at sign on.

    Didn't see Chop there!!

Good on you guys for taking it on.
Nigel I suggest you get 2 x T connections, 2 metres of hose (you can get all this at Mitre 10) and run two hoses into your airbox. Its the two hoses that come out of the side of the carb and loop upwards before exiting down by the swingarm that you join into. I've heard you only need to do one of these but I've always done both. And cut those hoses a bit shorter at the bottom, cut them on a 45 degree angle and slit them for 20mm. All this helps to prevent clogging with mud or sucking water and stalling in water like you describe.

Twice the displacement, twice the cost and a decibel problem, I'll pass on the inside brraaaap!!!

Tony I've got your 1st place certificate in my car.
Anyone who made it to the finish did bloody well- and i'm sure the spare parts guys will do a roaring trade in brake pads this week.

Brendon was at the mall buying male beauty products!!!

    I did a google docs as well ( I don't have office on this laptop ), http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?k...p814G73YajEGew

Tks for all the work organising the race eh, you all worked damn hard.

Turned out I did finish , they were nice on novices & let us off with 3 stages & didn't hour me out.

I'm up for front & back pads ( didn't scour the rear rotor to bad ) + new header .
