    Bandit Vs GSX

    Hello all

Im still trying to buy my first bike.

    I've been offered a good deal on a GSX250 2005.
Problems: high mileage 40000ks, bit beaten up, some damage to the firring and a couple of rust spots on the frame. It hasnt been looked after properly, was stolen and may have been crashed with the scratches to go with it. but It runs perfectly. 3800$ (jacket and helmut included)

    Or

A 1992 Bandit 33000ks, beautiful condition, and although I havent got a chance to check it out fully, I'm assured its running well. 3400$

Im leaning toward the bandit despite the 13 year difference. the GSX being stolen may have caused more damage than I could spot BUT i know and trust the owner which is not the case with the bandit.

Any thoughts or advice, Oh wise kiwi bikers?

    Thumbs up

I'd definitely take the Bandit, if it's got the dimpled clutch cover then it'll be a 45hp model too. My mates Foobin and uNople both have them and they're freakin' awesome. Depending on what employment I can muster up I'll be on either a pre-94 Bandit or an RS250 before the end of the year.

Take the bandit, more parts around for them ;P

//EDIT: Here's all the information on that Bandit you'd ever need. And $3,400 is a respectable price for a pre-94 Bandit 250, my mates paid $3,500 and $3,900 for theirs with sub-25k KMs on them.

The GSX250 is not Suzuki's greatest work. Given a choice between an inline four and an inline twin, I'd generally gravitate towards the four.

and why do you have a problem trying to decide

i think youll go for the bandit .

Why cause whats the gsx going to get you back in the end
no one will want it ,no one will want to pay what you want back for it

and you need to think of the fact that a bandit is technically near a gsx motor in them so theres not a lot of difference

In the bigger motors, yes, but not in the 250s -- the GSX250 is a parallel twin, the Bandit (GSF250) is a four-cylinder, same motor as the GSXR250.

    Stick with the GN250

    +1 to mos above.

Sticking with the GN untill ya get ya full would be the sensible choice.

I think the GSX is a great bike and harp on about how great my one was all the time. I wouldnt be put off by the high kays as mine did 60,000 no probs with plenty to go.
They are tough and can take a beating....

I would glady pay 1 grand or so for the described example..

    added:
Age aint that relevant for them, the gsx is old tech, bandit prob still more advanced.
Higher priced bike new and built to a MUCH higher standard.

    WHAT?!? $3800??

    BUY THE BANDIT!

Like any bike check EVERYTHING on it before you buy it.
If you can't get, or pay, someone YOU trust to do it.
Dont exclude the bike for niggly things just make sure you know how much its going to cost you soon and factor it into the price.

eg, brake pads going to need doing very soon = cost me $x extra... but twice as good as half worn so ony $x divided by 2

Great bike the bandit and FARKEN quick.
Older ones aren't limited to 40horse like the newer ones.
I have ridden both back to back and the older one was better.

Just make sure this particular one is a sound example.
Most likley is at those sorta Kms. (it really aint that much).
