    Where are all the Falcos??

Looking at upgrading the bike I have been really taken by what I have read about the Aprilia Falco. Sounds as though it is a good comfort/sport compromise with more power and handling than my current ride and with character to boot. Went to Paeroa thinking I would see a few in the flesh. After walking past the hundreds of bikes parked up (even managed to miss most of the 2nd Formula Paeroa race) I finally found a solitary example (yellow), heaps of Milles but only one Falco. I realise that unlike the Mille, the Falco was discontinued approx 2005 but I thought there would be more around. Is there some problem with them that I dont know about? Any advice or reported experience with ze Aprilia Falco would be most appreciated.

Never ridden one but you certainly don't see too many around. I have read a couple of reviews, some testers found the riding position a little strange, I think it probably depends on the rider though. Sort of an Italian Firestorm I would imagine, probably better in the suspension department though. Overall probably one of those underated bikes that never really found their market so were discontinued. Obviously if you can I would get a test ride on one, but I suspect they're possibly quite a good bike. Good luck!!

Kerry at Motohaus had one a few months ago - first and only one I've ever seen.

    The mighty falco

    Hey mate,
you must have missed my falco at the racing. Have owned it for around 3 years . Great all rounder with plenty of power to burn . Did the south island on it 06-07 approx 5000 kms never missed a beat . Could ride it all day long! These bikes are highly underated the motors are bullet proof. Highly reccomend if your looking to upgrade. Did i mention mine is for sale...Heading overseas for a while so its gotta go.

Madmal somethingorrather on here has one.

The tested very well in the mags, www.apriliaforum.com is a good place to go.

Wat about a Mille? A few of those around at good prices, they are pretty comfortable too.

A mate had one back in Oz and it was a great bit of kit. For the same money as a VTR or SV I'd take a Falco over the others any day. It can still do a bit of everything as the VTR/SV do, but has a bit more alround panache, especially in the windy bits.

A great bike and I'd have one in a flash - if I could find one over here. They are just a little bit different - very underrated.

Rode one that had the Mille chip and aftermarket pipes and it was very impressive - I found it comfortable, handled really well and was a bit of a wheelie monster to boot!

A bloody good choice there! I have owned mine for a while now and have done 47000 km on it. As others have mentioned the Aprilia Forum is a bloody great place for info & the guys on the Falco forum know their stuff.
I have had bascially no trouble with it and once the wiring mod & starter solinoid change is done, it will given you many trouble free miles.
The standard rear shock is very average and Im waiting for my Ohlins to arrive & Im having fork internals done with race tech valves & an Ohlins sterring damper and then it will be a far better handling machine. Its not bad as it is and its as good as if not better than any other comparable Jap V Twin just not top notch.
If you can get the factory luggage grap it! Bloody great. Easy to fit & remove. Takes me 10 mins to fit the brackets and bags & then away.
Mines running the Aprilia Racing carbon cans & chip with a DNA filter which makes a HUGE difference. Stock its fine but replace the cans and let it breath and its a whole lota fun.
A good alrounder sports tourer and I have track dayed it, toured it, rallied it, commuted it and done 1000 k day ride on it and still felt fresh at the end.
So all in all its a bike I really like.

Yes there are RSV's around that may be worth a look at! I like mine because it is a little different. Do like RSV though
