Came out of busy cafe, casually do up all the "biker bits' as I casually walk through all the tables on the front deck, put on helmet, hop on the bike, remember to put up the side stand (so I wont look like a dick when I let out the clutch). Sit there looking cool for a moment or two, fire her up to warm up and let the assembled folks savour the sound of the micron then spend five minutes trying to put my left glove on my right hand (cue snigger or two from the assembled.....)

Dumbest thing....? After filling up and paying I came back sat on my bike, flick up stand intending to "foot paddle" my way to the other side of the forecourt. No need to wear my helmet for this so I sit it on the tank. Slight movement and it slides off to the right and lands beside me so I leans over to pick it up and........uh oh, bugger. Pick up bike and depart smartly.......

    Dad: "Awesome, fire it up"

Me: **Hits button on remote to start it**

    Bike: **Whir Whir, roll forward......BOOF**

Me: "F**K it was in gear"

I had a narrow iron gate way at my house which my bike fitted through nicely. If I wanted to go on a decent journey I'd wheel the bike beyond the gates and fit my givi panniers and bugger off round the world.

Of course if it wont go through the gate one way with panniers on, it wont go through the gate the otherway, with panniers on, obvious init

I'm sure youve guessed by now but, a five day incident free trip round the uk, gets home and noticed a captive audience at the bus stop so I thought I'd show em how fast I could ride through the gates and up the path.

Total surprise when the bike came to a dead stop from about 40kph! BANG !!what the fook?? aghh fukin panniers. The old fella was lodged upright between the two iron posts. Bastard! I promptly dismounted and went straight into the house like I'd meant to park it in such a cool fashion.Didn't inspect the damage till the bus had taken my audience away.

About $800 of givis wrecked for being a show off twat. I just forgot alright, I was tired. You want dumb! http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...ad.php?t=67886

Dumbest thing would have to be, challenging a large Pine tree to a head butting contest on a Kawasaki Z1000 at somewhere aproaching 80MPH

As usual I was travelling way too fast and being only 18 I was feeling bullet proof, after leaving the road on a bend at about 90MPH the front wheel dropped into a ditch, this launched me head first into the aforementioned Pine tree, the bulk of the bike then followed me in.

Lucky for me someone saw me leave the road, a guy came down from the road and said "dont worry I'll get the bike off him" he lifted the back of the bike, slipped and fell under it, the hot exhaust gave his leg quite a nasty burn and he squealed like a girl

When the ambulance arrived they put me on a stretcher and carried me up to the road, the police had stopped the traffic for the ambulance, as they put me in it I looked back along the line of stopped traffic only to see a Post Office van come barrelling down the hill, he saw the traffic too late and skidded into the ditch further up the hill. This was before the days of compulsory seat belts and his passenger exited the vehicle through the windscreen while the driver hit the steering wheel, "Bugger" said the Ambulance driver "we will have to come back for them"

Final tally for my lunchtime ride
Me .. Fractured vertabrae, very bruised body, smashed crash helmet, wrecked bike.
Helper .. very scorched legs and not at all happy.
Van passenger .. lots of cuts and bruises from the shattered screen.
Van driver .. very bruised and a wrecked van.

Maybe I should have just got the fish and chips

    This thread is great!

    My worst moments,

Not realising the sidestand kill switch had been looped out on the recently purchased bike, that is until I took off from a rest area with the stand down! ........ thankfully my friend alerted me before I reached the road the realisation of what could have occured made me feel instantly sick.

Ignoring all the signs of fatigue and then losing the front by over-reacting to a totally avoidable situation.
Lead, follow or get the f*%! outa the way.

I hate it when you are cruisin when you pull up at the lights and you get a cage full of chicks who give you the giggles knowing you look so cool on the bike, lights turn red they give you a drag and you start to pull away and you miss a gear Damn I hate that

at my current flat backing the bike through the gate from up the side of the house...i have snapped 2 levers from catching them on the gate backbwards....still works finne but breaks the tab on the adjuster bit that stops it pivoting forward!

    ARGGG! gets expensive.
