I guess we are just lucky that the pilots of said helicopers dont say they can't come because it is raining or it was to earlyfor them to get up
And for the record there was no rain.

    500 in attendance this year.[/B]
Good for you. I didn't go cause I was in the Coromandel for the weekend. In any case, I was hesitant anyway cause of the early start time.

Listen to the people/the signs: make it later next year.

The police made the start time not the orginizers because it was easyer traffic mangament based on the 3 hour back log that it caused last year.

You could be excused on the fact that you own a ducati which probably wouldn't make it to the ride let alone complete it ....... even if you were still in auckland

    Correct.

It is unfortunate that this year, with the early start, was also dodgy weather. That makes it hard to know whether the reduced numbers were because of the early start (very hard for those out of town , who would have to rise about 5am); or just because people didn't want to risk getting wet.

They have also been putting the heavy word on BRONZ about other runs. So far we have told them to get knotted. Bikes have as much right on the road as Mrs Soccer Mom. If they (police) don't want to close the motorway ramps that's up to them. I'm just a motorcyclist, perfectly legally riding my bike. OK, so there are a few other motorcyclists also riding their bikes. That's not my problem. Even if there are quite a few. Yes, we do all happen to be going to the same destination. No law against that.

And, this year, they didn't close the ramps anyway. So what's the diff. Cages got mixed in anyway, might as well have started at 11. Personally i don't have a problem with riding such things on open roads, cages aren't hard to avoid.

Just think of all the soccer mums in 4x4's that had to wait at the closed off-ramps last year... would have made them late to their manicure appointments... no surprised they did not close the ramps.. half of them are probably married to cops.

I saw one chap pull over and stop his bike in the middle of the lane, to stop the traffic coming into the convoy, at the Onewa Rd onramp.
    Good on that rider!
Greenlane appeared to have a couple of bikes there as well.
