Been an interesting week... (bear in mind I'm a bit of a chicken)

Had an MRI on Friday... Neuro was keen to see if there was nerve damage due to some of my muscle being REALLY weak in my back. They asked all sorts of questions: am I pregnant, have I just had surgery, do I have any rods/plates/pins they should know about (umm... yes!). They weren't interested at all in my "balls of steel", go figure. Was interesting in the tunnel. I likened the noise to doing the Cook Strait crossing in the bottom part of the Ferry. Not scary. "Geeky" interesting.

Neuro wanted to perform some Nerve Conduction Studies on Saturday. Under the "nerve damage" guise he placed electrodes on the front of my shoulder and a needle in my back (had to find the goddamn nerve) and would give me a really uncomfortable shock and measure the latency (time it took for the nerve to get the belt, to when the muscle did something). NO damage was found, bit bloody miffed that neither of the tests were to find out the source of the shoulder constant pain I'm having. Asked about it and he said "its not likely to be neurological". Its got to be, its not bloody physiological, and that is all that is left! Bit scary. NOT interesting.

ACC in their limited wisdom have decided that I can catch a bus to work, and since I don't live on a Bus route I shifted flat Friday/Sunday. In hindsight I should have shifted to Kaikoura and collected $100M, but shifted to Kelson instead. Drew and his kids were awesome in helping me... bit tricky as I can't really lift much, and if I do I tend to get annoying shooting pains in my shoulders for about 3 days. Umm... made a square peg fit a round hole half the size. Sold two cars to the wreckers. Good times. Stressful. Interestingish.

Oral Surgery yesterday. Had two holes drilled into my head/gums for inserted Titanium rods, which will have implants tacked on in 6 months. That is right Ladies, I'm going to look this hot for only another 6 months! Bit stressed about the procedure but mild sedatives made me sleepy and don't remember much. Been pretty sore since I've woken though. Running out of pain killers. Anyone got some Bourbon? Chances are that this is the last really unpleasant thing because of my accident.

    Only 7.2 months to go!

Nice to get an update lad. I'll pop by some time with some tequila eh?

Don't worry about the front teeth, it makes you attractive to Drew as it doesn't scratch so much.

    Hey Skel,
Fantastic to see/hear you ARE recovering and you are positive!
Better to wait a while before getting on 2 wheels again, the ride at that stage will be worth it.
Stay strong and focused and best wishes from us accross the ditch for a full recovery!

    Duude.
The implants are way cool. I got one when they were new tech back in the day. At the time I was misguided enough to be a very bad kick-boxer. My dentist cracked me up "you can get the shit kicked out of you as much as you like now, but that tooth aint gonna go anywhere". He was onto it that fulla.
Keep up the recovery bro. See you on the weekend.

Not a bad idea. Bit skeptical about the Naturopath bit but sometimes I'd take anything. Cheers cyy.

I prefer natural to anything else .. the guy I am seeing works on pressure points, & has done several different trype of training (for yrs he has been the sports physio for the local rugby clubs - but does it as a sideline at nite as he works fulltime) .. works wonders ... see who you can find down your way .. if you have trouble finding someone might be worth a trip to levin to see this guy

There was a guy that worked in both Otaki and Welly, by the name of Peter Waugh. If he's still around could be worth a crack...he was very good at Naturopathy/Osteopathy treatment.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
