I'd check that policy carefully. Either they have changed their tune or something is amiss. My experience a couple of years ago mirrors others here. AMI despite being a good insurer & having a long history & all my insurance would only insure my bike as if it was a road bike. Couldn't comprehend the off road or race bike need.
    Is it modified? (exsqueese me?)
    Rego?

Called for branch manager (I was close to fuming) & he was adamant that it was pretty much the case. So ended up as like 1/3 of the purchase price a year. Feck off!

Decided to go spend that on security.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.

    Hey Cheese,

What type of insurance was it called on the policy? I tried to get insurance (all my stuff is with ami) for my bike but they gave me the middle finger due to it not having an ignition key...

Make sure that you tell them you want a limted policy to cover the bike in transit and from theif in your garage. I'll look at what its called tonight.

I just got both our bikes insured with State. Mine is brand VL250 new $6k and his is 10yrs old RF900 $8k and it cost us around $50 a month for full cover on both bikes (we have house, van, contents with them too) I was pleasantly surprised. Last time Martin tried to insure a bike he could have brought a new one with the premiums in like 2yrs. Of course thats with Roadbikes but I didn't realise getting insurance for a dirt bike was harder? Kinda makes me wonder how these familys with kids who do motorcross afford it?
I wouldn’t be broke if the voices in my head paid rent

    Why not?
    I did.
I'd been with State forever (over 30 years), and got pissed off with the crap deal they gave me on my bike. So, we switched everything (house, contents, four motor vehicle policies) over to AMI and are much happier.
The only downside is we no longer get the FlyBuys points from the fat premiums we used to pay. Boo hoo...
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

You guys should at least give Star Insurance a call. From memory it costs about $6 per week for a 10k dirt bike.

The beauty about them is they only insure Motorcycles and therefore there should be no hassles as per the Barty5 dilema.
They also understand that we like to bling our bikes and will cover for this as well.
