mmmmmm....DONUTS
Couldn't resist pulling a sicky yesterday to check out new rear tyre (kenda millville - (seperate thread)) on KLX 300 with a sesh up maddix park endo loops ( am self employed so will give me a bollocking back at work tomorrow) - after 4 days of rain and 2 of sun the tracks were a perfect mix of loam, puddles, mud and hardpack and the kenda performed admirably, but it's brand new and for $109 so it should in those conditions. The real highlight of the day were the new renthal kevlar grips with ktm donuts added at last minute. over the past couple of weeks the craters of the moon style ruts have been turning my arms to jelly and playing havoc with blistered and cramped thumbs and fingers ( the limits of the trusty klx suspension have been well and truly reached) - but salvation has arrived, the renthals stayed solid on the bar and were easily gripped and gave good feedback - I can see why other forum luminaries like scott rate them - and the donuts are a revelation - after three hours of berm banging and racing against a couple of guys on kawi mxer's down from auckland and practicing for the 6 hour this weekend i could easily grasp a cold bottle of steiny in the evening with my totally unblistered digits - heaven - all in all for the combined total of $50 this is the best upgrade i've done on a bike.
