The term "REVENUE GATHERING" does not apply only to the law ENFORCEMENT department.

Nup, I don't see the problem, you bought a product or priviledge then (for whatever reason) you have declined to use a portion of it.
Do you want to return the unused petrol in the tank for a refund as well?
If you join say a Rugby/Tennis/BDSM (insert pastime of choice) club, then injure yourself so you are unable to play or get to the bar for a drink would you expect part of your subs back?

ok, all insurance companies are different but I have never heard of this.
I think its a funny way of saying it 'If the insurance company write it off they are buying the wreck off you' and also they definately don't give you and proceeds from the wreck!
when a vehicle is written off, it becomes the ownership of the insurance company to do as they please with and they will give you the sum insured, less any xs and outstanding premiums.

so if your bike is insured for 4k you are in month 3 of a 12 month insurance policy, you write it off (also this is determined by the insurance assessor, not your mate at the bike store) you will get 4k - 9months of premium* and - your excess. the policy will be canceled from this point.

*I believe some insurance companies have been known not to do this. most do, the reasoning is, its a a contract for a year's cover, they are just being nice and allowing you to pay it off in installments (with a 10% charge for the hassle)
I only posted this because of the global economic crisis

Every licenced driver would be 'road registered' so entitled to drive any vehicle. Vehicles would only need a WOF as the driver would be registered.

There would probably be a single user and multi user charge.

Only thing here is the present vehicle rego does cover plates and who owns it...add to WOF?

You wouldn't expect a refund if you went on holiday for three months, or if you tripped and had your leg in a cast and couldn't ride (wouldn't wish that on ya BTW).

So its just a matter of sucking it up - getting your bike back on the road and enjoying it.

I hope that you are all 100% and not hurt in your bin.
Um technically if you tripped it may be a fault ,in the foot path or road ,so yeah you can ask for payment

You can put it on hold anytime they just wont refund what you havn't used, and when it comes off hold you pay from that date.

If you put it on hold for say 12 months, but get it back on the road before 3 months into the exemption you must pay back to the date from when you put it on hold.

    Total BS in my opinion.

But hey, you are dealing with a government department.

Do you really expect any better?, i mean did you expect it for a second?

    Seriously.

of course not. they are not getting their product back. however with rego if you pay for 12, use 5 then you should be able to give the other 7 back undamaged and in tact that they can then onsell to the next person at no loss to them.
