    LTSA are Chunt Funters.

Binned the bike. Its off the road, probably for the rest of the year.

Got 8 months rego left on it.

"hmm lets put rego on hold so Im not wasting the $200 I just spent on rego"

    ring up LTSA.

"no sorry you can only put ur bike on rego when it runs out"

So basicly I have paid for 8 months rego and cant use it.

Can anyone tell me why I should pay for rego and then not be allowed to use it when I want?

    In my books its stealing.
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

    agreed it is rude.

Should be able to put ti on hold and have remaining rego run out after it gets put back on the road again. On the flipside, if you let the rego run out and its not back on the road and you go in 3 months later you have to backpay it as well. The whole contiuneous licencing thing is a PITA

The only solution I can come to is to buy rego in 3 month lots, so if u do bin it, they can only steal max 3 months of rego fees.

That sucks. It's the same with insurance - if you pay the full twelve months then write the bike off after 1 you dont get a refund. That's why I pay my insurance monthly and my rego 3 monthly, that way Murphy's law says I won't crash at all.

if you dereg it you can get a refund of the remaining rego, but then it is a circus getting it back on the road again. no win/win situation with LTNZ

well to be fair. if the insurance write it off then they are buying the wreck off you so should get any proceeds from the wreck they can. You can too, if you are not insured. You can "write the bike off" but handing in the plates and rebuilding the bike is a tough way of getting the thing back on the road again.

Not true with insurance. If you make a claim against your policy (on the assumption it's your fault) they expect the whole premium to be paid, if you pay monthly, they'll just take the whole premium off the payout.

They're just being nice letting you pay it off monthly

    agreed.

Although I seem to remember this being discussed before, with many an opposing view... (LTNZ are indeed "chunt funters")

have you tried cancelling the rego without de-reging it, then putting it on hold??

to "restore" it, im sure you can do this, im sure i did it a few years ago
