If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
I suppose given all of the nice things I have to say about Motomart I had better make other plans...Originally Posted by Sparky Bills

Centrifugal force is a myth, I remember back from my days of rotational physics.Originally Posted by Hitcher
I'll see if I can dig out my old text books so I can explain why it's a myth.
No the larger the the tyre becomes, the lower speed your speedo will read (for a given speed). Also depends on whether the speedo is front or rear wheel driven.Originally Posted by Slingshot
For some reason most bikes speedos are horribly inaccurate above 200kph by about 50kph. Tyre flex isn't to blame as you are talking about a 20% error which means a tyre would have to grow/shrink about 12cm in diameter. When people tell me they were doing 290kph the other day and I know that model is only good for 260kph, I do a mental calculation and go "so that actually means 240 REAL kph" but just keep it to myself![]()
I'm sure all riders who have highsided would be fascinated to learn that centrifugal force is a myth...Originally Posted by Slingshot
However your are right in your assertion. Centrifugal force does not exist. Nevertheless, it appears real to the object being rotated. This is because the object believes that it is in a non-accelerating situation, when it is not. For instance, a child on a merry-go-round is not experiencing any real force outward, but they must exert a force inwards to keep from flying off the merry-go-round. Since the centrifugal force appears so real, it is often very useful to use as if it were real. The more massive the object, the greater the force. This is true because an adult will have a harder time staying on a merry-go-round than will a child. The greater the speed of the object, the greater the force. This is true because a merry-go-round is harder to stay on, the faster it is pushed. The less distance from the centre, the greater the force. This is perhaps the trickiest relationship, for it is much harder to stay near the middle of the merry-go-round than the edge of the merry-go-round.

The only bike I've owned with a reasonably accurate speedo was my RC30. Indicated 275=260 on a radar gun.Originally Posted by Hoon

The coolest merry go round I've ever seen was the one Above-Bar in Southampton. As we got closer to the amusement rides, I could hear the unmistakable sound of a Chevy small-block V8 turning at about 5000rpm.Originally Posted by Hitcher
The merry go round was 4 rides deep, and populated by white faced small children clinging on for grim death to various horses and unicorns, and by Grannies sagging at the knees with cheeks stretched flat over facial bones and teeth bared, just like all those comedy centrifuge gags.
There was a perceptible breeeze coming off the merry go round some 20 metres away, and the open pipes of that Chevy V8 drowned out the cheesy music wonderfully.
The wife and I had many hours of sublime entertainment listening to the "Dopplered" screams of terrified toddlers.
Marvellous.

What kind of business gives up 10 grand worth of business?
The very TRX I'd been looking at ended up at Bay City Motorcycles and I bought it from them, for a great price, and I had excellent service from them too.

Where did you get this info from? I have seen numerous tests where indicated is, for example, 274km/h and real has been 271km/h. Hardly a 50km/h difference. Check most good mags, they will show indicated to real speed comparisons, and I bet you you'll never find a 50km/h difference. I'd be sending my bike back to the factory if that was the case.Originally Posted by Hoon

Just come to the ride, and we can all have a good time!![]()
I can understand your sentiments Sparky Bills, but I'm not having a go at Hoon, just asking where he got his info from. Anyway, you don't have to get involved if you don't want to.
