Got my bike insured for $80!!

Ok so I rang AMI for some quotes and if you take house car and contents you can get a limted policy to cover if it gets stolen from your locked garage or fell off your trailer or stolen in transit for example.

thought I'd share the info! :spudflip:

Thats good info but hardly worth doing away with 25 years of good record with my current insurer. But they will not insure a bike unless its full cover. Thats just bull turd in my book. For someone starting out it swings the favour towards AMI thats for sure.

Twice the displacement, twice the cost and a decibel problem, I'll pass on the inside brraaaap!!!

Ah yes, but surely these quotes are all relative to how much you are insuring your bike for. Example; Hondas are worth less, so cheaper insurance.

For off road bikes, not many insurance co's fully understand how we use them, where they are stored, often in trailers out the front of some motel in a strange town(maybe even in the Naki), and how much they are really worth.

Yep had that on my Dog Rooter the last 6 or 7 years (currently $56). The great thing was that after 2 years, it gave me a full no claims bonus to insure my roadbike (full cover) with AMI.
(everything else is insured with a company who thinks motorcycles are uninsurable...)

You'll not get much of a replacement bike for $80 though

I've got a US number with Skype as well, handy if someone wants to ring you from the US & was like $30USD for a year ( it rings your skype or you can redirect to a NZ number if you have skype credit ).

haha i tried insuring my CR125 2 years back and for the hassel of insuring and the cost i just went and brought the hugest lock i could find and dont pack in stupid places. AMI didnt even want to know about it even though i had my car insured with them for 800 a year. then i tried to insure my van with AMI and they said no (they dont like big shiny things that go round lol (mags)) All up im with state now much easier to deal with. still havnt insured bike.
