    Leave approved...I'm in!!

I enjoyed the ride down so much last year I think I'll come again and stay this time.
I have taken a few days off after the weekend and plan to do some off road exploring around Cromwell, Queenstown area if anyone is keen to stay on a few extra days

    Rgds Matt

    08 Monkey

Thought I would keep the thread alive as the Monkey draws nearer, if you are ever in the Kapiti region I thoroughly recommend you try the devils staircase and rock garden in the Akatara Forest. There is a great 50 odd km loop from the Mangatukutuku Valley side of the forest that follows the Karapoti Mtb race course in reverse....not for the faint hearted or GS rider...

... and tho I'd intended to go, and would be keen to see how peachvw handles the ice (frozen puddles??) - my leg is still not 100% functional after tangling with the bike up at lake Sumner, and will anyway be in China.

Hope you have a great time. Stay upright!

    Queenstown Afterwards

    Hi guys,

Who is keen on staying Sunday / Monday nights in a cabin at the Queenstown camping grounds?
Looking at doing Macetown and possibly Nevis Valley loop (or any other ride that takes our fancy) on Monday then back to Christchurch Tuesday via Thompsons gorge rd (rise n shine), black forrest etc
Let me know early so can get an idea of numbers

    Rgds Matt

I would have been keen Matt, but as you may remember, after a wee traffic ticket I got last year, the baliff decided he better have my lisence for 3 months, and the KLR isn't included on the work lisence

Ironically, I get my full lisence back on the 6th of June, a week too late

Hope you guys have a great trip yet again

    Cheers, Stu
My KLR thinks it's a Hyundai - running happily at the red-line hour after hour.....

Mickyboy - how you getting on regarding the route? Have you got any further with your route (I've been hearing rumors). Keen to help if I can. I've got some ideas for the ride between Rakaia and Albury and that avoid the State Highway's and involve a bit of gravel/dirt (still mostly seal though). Depends on how fast you want to get south and where you want to stop for the night?

    Cheers R
