RING SPANNER NOT NEEDED on MINE or 6 others I know of. These were "off the shop floor as well" The other one or two mentioned on here are Isolated cases. Not the norm..... A check of the bike should be a regular practice anyways.
My late 2007 Hyo has like Hubba's not missed a single beat. Comfy position, and handles well. Enough grunt to get me where I want to go, without hassles.
Try one, you will like it...![]()

there will always be some people that are put off by things that are "different" ie not a honda, yam, kwak ... etc.
personal experience tells me they are a pretty good bike and a bloody good first bike.
like huba guba said youll have to ride the bugger to know for yourself.
The Suzi has sold!!!!! bugger![]()
They are a great bike for what they are, a 250.
They are a big bike and will easily handle your size. I've been riding mine for six months now and I still smile every time.
Alot of people on these forums will wank on about the power and weight. But they all seem to forget that its only a 250, and most people will sell theirs as soon as they get their full license anyway.
While you sit there liking things just cos' everyone else does, I'll be standing up here keeping it real.

ok, go get a demo ride on a GT250R today, and then get biddin' on that one on TM. Quick, or you will miss out.
Fess up with the bike shop - tell them you have the BHS but don't even have a learners yet, and are not happy with taking it on the road, and you cant really tell by sitting on it and going "brmm, brmm" but can they take it to a grassy park so you can have a putter around in 1st gear.. Asking never hurt anyone.
Or else go see one in-the-flesh. Sometimes thats enough.

Had my 06/07 GT250R for a year and 17000km with no issues at all - i am 6ft and 130kg and it carried me fine.
I was going for a Suziki or Honda until I test rode a Hyosung 250 GTR and I was very impressed. BTW my last two bikes were a 650 and 600, and I have ridden a few others so I am not new to bikes.
But the racing posture of the GTR killed my old-injury wrist, so I went for a 250 Comet and am really happy with it, especially since it keeps up with all the big bikes (I have been out on numerous group rides with bikes from 700 to 1800 cc).
People make two comments about my bike: "Is it a new bike?" (no, its an '04) and "A 250?! Really? It looks bigger than that!" Fuel economy is great, 80 mpg on trips 100 - 110 kph.

and if you are real keen, you can come down to Turangi where the bike is and take it for a ride, theres no traffic to worry about down here and some nice straight bits of empty road to cut your teeth on, i have never had an issue with this bike, it has run sweet, but yes build quality can be an issue but not if you wash and polish her lots![]()
